Insurances guarantee high prices for medical treatment and medicines, making it unaffordable for those who cannot afford insurance, in my opinion..
Also I think insurance brings up to cost of healthcare because highly educated people must be hired to figure out how to fill out insurance forms that can be 160 pages long (Medicaid and other social plans), more people hired to manage accounts, more time is spent on charting than actually care (special wording must be used to qualify for reimbursements, but can discredit professional if used/taken out of context in court), the cost of investigating insurance fraud and the profits insurance companies much make to pay all of its employees and owners. All of this seems to me to have little to do with actual health care. I think the huge problem (affecting this generation worse than previous ones) is that insurance companies have taken over healthcare and often non-medical professionals are writing protocols and rules that are detrimental to the publics health and financial welfare.
Your thoughts and opinion on this are appreciated.

I'm a 20 year old female with a federal job. I go to the doctor for womanly visits about twice a year, wear contacts, dentist check up, and I'm on birth control pills. Which health plan should I choose since I rarely go to the doctors?

hey

i had a leak from my boiler a while ago now & put in a claim for insurance. they have said they will cover this & are getting the work settled for me. since putting in the claim i have noticed that the leak had gone into one of my main storage cupboards & damaged a load of my stuff, since putting in this extra claim they are now saying they will put a loss adjuster on my case - what does this mean??

Hi, I would like you opinion about a Friend of mine and if you think she should bother calling her Homeowners Insurance company. I will try to keep this short and relevant:

She lives in Washington DC, and lives in a 1920's era condo building and owns her place outright. The multi-floor building is operated by a property managment company. A couple of months back, there was a slow leak in the roof and the water filtered down into her unit, causing moderate damage over a period of time to the ceilings in the bath and kitchen, and causing things to fall off the plaster walls and ceilings, like the medicine cabinet fell out off the wall, the light fixture, the window sill in the bath fell apart, paint peeling from the walls and ceiling, large chunks of plaster fell from the ceiling as well as a moldy smell developed.

She alerted the Property Managment company at the first signs of trouble weeks ago, and they began to trace the source of the issue, they said that

If a person has a condition, say a torn rotator cuff, and they wanted insurance because they didn't have a ridiculous amount of money to repair the problem--after getting insurance (or before) and you were to go get your rotator cuff fixed, but you were denied of grounds of "pre-existing condition", how exactly do they know this information. Say a person had lied, and said on their insurance application, "nope, im perfectly healthy", how does insurance companies know if say, this person did go visit a doctor years ago, or had seen someone for their rotator cuff problem (pre-existing condition)...How do insurance companies find pre-existing conditions since all medical information is private--or is it...

My grandparents claim that their insurance company said that they cannot move from the town they live in because their insurance will not cover them in another town. Also, even if the town is nearby and they could drive to appointments they still would not be covered. Is this possible, because they live in a really bad neighborhood and they really need to move. Please help.

By the way I think their insurance is Medicare of Medicaid.

if I am claimed as a dependant on his tax returns would this qualify me to be included on his medical insurance plan through work? We live in the state of West Virginia and since I am living with him and he claims me as a dependant I am not sure if I can get the state medical card--but I also don't know if I can be on his medical insurance since we are not married. We have been together for 16 years. I have always assumed that I could not be on his insurance because we are not married but since he claims me as a dependant would his health insurance treat me as a dependant also?? Or if nothing else since he claims me as a dependant would this hurt my chances of getting a medical card from the state instead of being on his insurance. Sensible answers only please---yes I know we should get married etc blah blah blah but.....I just need practical answers. Please save therapy and self help answers for some other posts! :)

My now previous employer was given notice of my final day (8/3/07) in the first week of May 2007, but did not cancel my ins. policy until after 8/03/07 so now i am told i have to pay since cut off was before 1st of the month. My concern is I was never asked if I wanted to continue it for the month of August or have it canceled after the last full cycle (July '07) I just feel I shouldn't have the deduction out of final check due to employer not cancelling it prior (they had more than enough time. I only stayed on longer than 2 wks as a "help" to company
