A few years ago, a family member got credit cards and things in my name and didn't pay the bills. So, when I started making a little money. I paid all of the credit cards off. Then, this misunderstanding led to a collection account with a hospital on my credit. Anyway, I have been working hard to rebuild my credit and it seems like everywhere I turn I being denied. My credit score is 679. I have one department store and I have only about 600 dollars on the balance and my limit is 2500. I have been paying this excellant. Do you have any advice for me. Can I get the collection account off, it has been two years.

I am in a dispute with a hotel over an amount charged to my credit card. My credit card company agreed with me that I was wrongly charged, and reversed the charge from my account.

The hotel chain has been contacting me directly, demanding payment, and threatening to ruin my credit if I don't pay them what they are demanding. I have written them, disputing the charge, and stating I will not pay.

How easy is it for them to go to court, get a judgment, put it on my credit history, and thus tarnish my credit score? How much would it tarnish my credit score? The dollar amount is less than $100.

I got served papers today by a bank where i got a loan 4 years ago. I owe them $10,000 and now they're suing me. I'm not working that's why i haven't paid. The last time I paid was about 1 year ago. My question is this- My husband is the only one working, we did not get this loan together and we just bought a house last year too. The house is in his name only. When I go to court for this, will HIS income get garnished, will a lien be placed on the house? Is there any chance that the bank will reduce the debt just so they can get some cash? I don't want to get a lawyer if i can settle this by myself, but my husband says i may have to file bankruptcy cuz i have outstanding credit card debt, $5000, and medical bills. I live in TX, so I'd appreciate any input anyone has to offer.

I read somewhere that you can boost your credit score by adding aged credit accounts(becoming an authorized user or joint account holder on someone else's account) with a positive payment history to your credit file.My credit used to be pretty good, but is now suffering severely and my parents are trying to help any way they can and are willing to add me as an authorized user on two of their 10 year old credit card accounts with high limits and perfect payment history.I want to know if anyone out there reading this has ever done this and the results/experiences they had and if it actually raised their credit score. Thanks

I have read that you should not pay these off, especially if they are close to coming off your report, becasue they will "re-age". Is this true? Also, can you have an entry for the original debt on your report AND the collection account at the same time, for the same debt?

I tried places like Walmart (that cashed it before for several months) but they now use another system that wont take my check. I called the company that they use and was told that it is nothing against me or anything in my file but the system is just not allowing the check to go thru I cant open a bank account because I have several credit judgements against me and I am afraid they will freeze any account that I open. What else can I do?

Due to relocation for employment purposes I was recently forced to surrender my mobile home back to the lender. I am now told that once they sell it I will be billed for any deficieny and that they have the right to garnish my wages. How can I protect myself not to mention my previously perfect credit rating?

I'm looking for a credit card with the best cashback. Can you recommend me something? I pay monthly religiously. Since I don't have a balance, I just like to take advantage for cash/rewards. Thanks!

I know they charge way more than buying something outright and I know they charge high interest rates, but I really want to build credit without having to get a credit card or any kind of personal loan.

My husband and I are so deep in financial debt that we are prepared to file for bankruptcy. We are not too concerned with the bankruptcy being on our report; we just want to know if the creditors for whom we have filed against remain on after the discharge.

I like getting piecemeal advice here, but I'd rather have some resource that puts it all in one place. Something that compares or rates the rebate credit cards. Any suggestions?

How many credits cards you carry? I like to have a VISA credit card since it's accepted to almost anywhere. I like to have an American Express too since I always buy at Costco in bundles and it will give me cashback every year. Do you think it's too much?
