I tried places like Walmart (that cashed it before for several months) but they now use another system that wont take my check. I called the company that they use and was told that it is nothing against me or anything in my file but the system is just not allowing the check to go thru I cant open a bank account because I have several credit judgements against me and I am afraid they will freeze any account that I open. What else can I do?

You have a couple of options as opposed to banking. You can go to a currency exchange which I find are a little expensive. Or you can go to a larger chained grocery store as their service counters should be equiped to cash payroll checks. The fee should be small. But if you don't do banking you will have to pay. But you can bank even though your credit is bad. As long as you are not on ChexSystems, you should be able to open a "bill payers" or non-interest bearing checking account. It's cheaper than the grocery store and the currency exchange. If your employer offers direct deposit that is an absolute plus for your chances of re-establishing your banking reputation. Nothing says you are serious like telling the bank you get direct deposit. Your only other option is to examine your paycheck so that you can figure out if the payroll check is drawn on a bank that is in the city you live in. If it is, you can cash that check at no cost to you. It's drawn on that bank...why not cash it if it is convienient. Good Luck Kiddo! But you really do need to start looking at your credit report and get a report from Chexsystems. You can't keep running. Start handling your business so you can write checks and cash them with confidence and no fear. I will say a prayer for you! You can do it.

You don't have to have a bank account to cash a check. Just cash it at the bank that the check was issued from.

If going to the bank from which the check was originated will not work for you, perhaps you could go to the place which issued the check to you.

Tell them that no one will cash it (do not tell them why, if you do, they won't help you) and ask if someone from there can escort you into their bank to cash it. If they will not assist you in that, ask them if you can return the check, them paying you in the form of cash in exchange... providing that you will sign a document for them stating that you received the money.

Going to a place like Check Cashers should work for you though.

To help you in the future, there also are places called 2nd chance banks for people with bad credit. This enables people with bad credit to open up an account. For example, http://www.badcreditnic.com/index.html.

Most banks are affiliated with the Chex systems, unfortunately. You may want to work on getting those nsf transactions paid for asap. consumerdebit.com has a section where you can order your report (sort of like a credit report) telling you the amounts, from whom and who you need to pay.
https://www.consumerdebit.com/consumerinfo/us/en/chexsystems/report/index.htm

Beware of the scams out there for "List of non-chex systems banks" and "free removal from chex systems". More than likely, you will get yourself into trouble dealing with these types of internet websites.

I've been told that immigrants who have no social security number yet (and hence can't open bank accounts) can often bring their payroll checks into the local small grocery store in their community to cash them. I would try a grocery store that is frequented by Mexicans, as they often offer that convenience to their customers.

Take it to the bank upon which it is drawn (your employer's bank). By the way, having cash on hand won't keep the creditors from finding out that you earning income. They just have to find your employer.

Contact your creditors and offer to make SOME payment on your debt. Then stick to your payment plan.
