I love US Bank. They're open until 8PM M-F, and until 5 and Sat. and SUNDAY! Usual bank days apply as far as posting bills and such, but just the fact that I can do my banking the day after a party is awesome. Even when I do deposit after "regular" bank hours, $100 of what I deposit is IMMEDIATELY available on my debit card. FirstMerit would take a day, at least.

Their checking is free, and your debit card earns you cash back when you use it as credit (and who doesn't do that?!). ALSO, if you keep over $1000 in the checking acct, it earns interest! LOVE LOVE LOVE USBank.

I prefer a credit union if you are starting out. They are smaller, have less stringent requiremtns on minimum deposit, and more interactive . If you, your parents, your spouse are a college student, work for local or national government, or in the armed services there is a good chance you can a credit union.
