I am a senior member of staff and when the manager has left the office, I am in charge.

Everyone decided to take their lunch leaving the phones unmanned!

I then called everyone back in the office and called a meeting. I said that everyone is big enough to use their common sense to negotiate with team members when to go on their lunch and await other staff members to come back.

The youngest age of the staff here is 25 and the eldest is 27.. so they should have common sense!

I then said that I DO not want to hen peck them, they are not children...

one of them took offence to that!

This same person seems to think that she can call the shots and give orders etc

I have told them that I will 'switch' on them because I was quite lenient, but if I have to be the sort of person that people will dread at work, then so be it!

What do you think?

I'm 19; in Australia, I want to be an actor, but want a back up career in case I don't make it as an actor, my next passion is fashion design, but then I found out that that career too was very competitive, so I thought of a plan c; housing (Urban and Regional Planner) which is a stable permanent high paying career. But I’m now facing the problem that I can't study fashion design and housing at the same time and each take at least 4 years to launch, what should I do?

I'm going to have to look for colleges soon, and I want to either go into fashion design or graphic design on the computer. Is there a career that involves both? I have heard of textile design which is done on the computer, but is that designing clothes or fabric? - I'd really like to know a carrer I'd be good for and I would like it to also involve a little sewing (fashion design). any suggestions?

We have relocated to scotland from england, where I had a good job and a mother to help with childcare. I am now looking to work again but find that with childcare for 3 kids I will probably only end up earning about £10 a day after petrol, clothes food etc. Has anyone found anything they can do to make it worth while?

The sales staff makes errors in data entry 5% of the time (entering payment type and amounts incorrectly). Should the admin department not say anything and edit these errors the next day (is that part of their job?) or should sales staff be held fully responsible for the errors?

So you're fresh out of grad school and you have what you believe is a great new idea; one that will potentially revolutionized the hi-tech industry, or any industry that is traditionally the playground of the young. You've got the expertise and the venture capital, now you need a team of brilliant, diligent, free-thinkers to help you bring your idea to fruition.

A few of your applicants are driving Buicks and sporting reading glasses, but they're smart and seasoned. However, most of their competition was born during the Reagan administration and rode to the interview on skateboards and hybrids. They are more in-tune with your ideal work environment and you don't have to educate them about the latest computer acronym. Would you hire the AARP crowd, or stick to what you’re more comfortable with? Or would you hire a mix and hope they blend?

What can you offer this company?
Why should we hire you??

Thanks!!
