When the interviewer ask u " tell me about your self!" what is the best answer...shall the answer " i'm xxx feet tall n black hair bla.bla.bla or i.m the oldest son ..bla..bla.." n what is the purpose of this question ? both for the company or the interviewer

i did ask this question, it might be the time wasn't right, due to i live in asia which have different time with europe n america so i only have very small answer

They want to know what you're passionate about (it helps if your passionate about what the job your applying for is!). If what you're passionate about is not the job, that's OK. People want to see that if you put your mind to something you can do it and love it. That makes a good employee!

Well, I usually answer something like, well I was an only child and I guess that helped my imagination I would play for hours on my own and well this is something I've wanted to do since then, and I know I would be great at, I guess I would consider my self to be patient and I like working with others and I think I'm a very honest dependable person I guess the one thing I would change about me would be maybe being a bit less organized it drives my husband/ wife/girlfriend /boyfriend crazy hahaha

I use it as a opening line to just start dialog. Make everyone feel at ease. During the process you can tell alot about someone just by the way they interact. Its like Freudian pyschology of free association. It tells how friendly, how open the person is. tells if they can form a sentenance and put thoughts into words. It tells if they are whacko. The content is sometimes useful, I mean if the person spends spare time going to rock concerts and partying or spends it at the homeless shelter doing volunteer work.

I'm a manager and I ask the questions for 2 reasons. The first is to ask about your background as far as work experience. I usually want to know what you have done and how you went about it.
The other reason I ask it is so I can get a feeling about how someone would present themselves. To me, a lot of 'I don't knows' tend to be a bad thing. Be confident and it will definitely make you come off looking good.

He is more interested in what you've accomplished, then your personal details. If related you can mention a hobby, and your interest in it. You can also segue into a question concerning the position for which you are applying.

You should know all about you and should be capable of presenting in proper way. If you fail, it gives a lot negative signals.

They ask that to see how confident you are in yourself. Tell them that your dependable, can come in to work on time, always ready to work, trustworthy, honest, etc like that.

he asked tell me about yourself, just start with, im blah years old, i have a great personality etc... dont name characteristics but things you've done, do, etc

tell them about what interests you, what you've done in the past, what your aspirations are for the future...try to be engaging and interesting
