Workload has increased significantly over an extended period of time which legitimizes creating a new position. Me and my co-workers have been picking up the work out of necessity but cannot sustain this increased pace forever. My manager refuses to ask administration for a new position. Why would my manager make this decision? What effect might this have on me and my co-workers?

I'm already employed and studying at uni but am hoping to pick up extra work throughout the summer holidays. The position I'm applying for is bar work- pouring drinks etc. I've read a few answers to other similar questions, but generally for bar work I've found places like their girls to be attractive, so I thought it wouldnt be a bad idea to include a head shot. So photo or not? What do you think?

My boss asked me in to work today and lectured me about a couple things. The main one was that I was not allowed to discuss my pay with other people who work at my store. He told me that there were actual privacy laws that I cannot do this. I think he's full of it. Is there actually a law out there that says I cannot tell my coworkers how much I make? Thanks!

I've been desperatly trying to get hold of my previous school in order to get a copy of a report from my year 10 work experience & a reference from one of my teachers to add to my CV. I understand ex-students will not be the highest priority but after emails, phone calls, letters I am getting nowhere. Can anyone think of any way I can work around this?

This is a UK question. I am 60 and will be leaving my job in the New Year. I have worked in my present job for over 12 years. I would like to take a break before looking for another job. Should I register with the Job Centre immediately or wait a few months? If I register immediately will I be eligible to receive benefit as I left of my own volition? If I wait a few months before registering will I receive less benefit? Will I be pressured into taking a job 6 months after registering or 6 months after leaving my current job? What's your experience?

After the first and second interview, in how many days is it probably that They (macy's) will call to say If I have been hired? or even to say if I havn't been hired? If I havn't, do you think they would still call?

My girlfriend had applied online for macy's job and they emailed her telling her to come to an interview.however they didnt say she had to dress professionally.when she got there they didnt let her go to the interview because she had on jeans. The managers or anybody didnt see her,the security guard at the door told her about the dress code.
She is real mad now and I told her she might be able to re-apply online.
Can she reply online or will they disregard her as soon as they seen her application again? Is there any chance that she can get another interview if she re apply.
What should she do
if she does re apply how long should she wait or how many days to re apply?

I am 20 years old and have only had two jobs in the past two years and one of them was only seasonal work. I applied yesterday morning on a whim and got a call about three hours later on the same day. It's a new Barnes and Noble that just opened up, so maybe they are really desperate for employers? I mean, I didn't even have professional refrences listed on my application.

The truth is that I do love reading and books and spend more time in Borders/Barnes and Noble in the past few years than in school! It's a great atmosphere and I love the cafe that it would be a perfect place for me to work but it this is such a cliche and overused answer.

What should i expect from this interview? Questions? Is a pair of fitted black pants, a sweater and a pair of heeled boots okay to wear?

My interview is tomorrow at 4:30pm.

ok so i had this job for maybe 2-3 weeks. Its cool, but too much sometimes, and i might have a better job offer. Im the only one working the floor, cleaning and folding everything myself. doing go backs. closeing... and all for nothing. No one wants to buy credit, so they are cutting my hours already cuz of that... i stay till 12am, and leave class early jus to make it to work.. its hard with college and this.
so i got an offer of doing recreation, working with little kids playing sports =) which is good cuz thats my minor in school. and it will help with my major too, and i think they pay better.. and more flexiable with hours, so it wont affect my school hours..

i just feel bad cuz i havnt been in this job that long, and now i want to leave already... is that bad? should i suck it up for a while??

I reside in a small town (less than 3,000 people) with a very tough job market. I'm in my first year out of college and have a background in entertainment and music marketing, however I currently work in cosmetics.

In the paper last week, there was an article stating that the town was looking to create a new job for the city of "Events Coordinator" stating that they wanted more tourism. It also stated that they would "do research of other towns with a similar description" since the town has never had one.

I really want this job because I have a lot of creative ideas for events and a bright look for the economically depressed town. How should I go about trying to land this job? I have only met the mayor once, and have been wanting to go to more town meetings. In the article, they stated they would be researching this position in Decemeber.

Any suggestions?
