You are overqualified for the positions you have been seeking. You have a few of options here. If you strive for a job that is a little more of a stretch for you, this probably won't be the case. That would also give you more of a challenge and a chance to better yourself. You could also adjust your resume for certain jobs to eliminate the items that may intimidate some employers. I am not saying lie on your resume, but it is ok to leave something out if it is not relevant to the position you are applying for. Another response to this would be express to the potential employer your great interest in the job and the reasons why you would be a good fit. Tell them how these qualifications would be an assett to them and that you will not be asking for more money than the job pays because of your great skill.
Good Luck in your job search!

Most hiring managers don't want to think outside the box, and they don't want to hire someone who will outperform them. They need to hire followers at that point. People who will work their tail off and respect rank.
Do you know what you want to do? You should definitely link up with your school's career counseller, and people that you respect to help focus in on what you want to do, and become the ideal candidate for that role or profession.
Once you determine what general career path you want, reach out to no less than 20 managers and executives (or successful people) in that industry and come up with interview questions for them. Tell them that you are conducting research to get some ideas and best chart a career path in this particular space for a hungry young professional. Ask them for 5 minutes and be prepared with 10 questions to help you gain some clarity in this industry where they are experts.
You can even tell them where you got their name (website, publication, article, whatever) especially if it has prestige. Try to reach them about 5 times - call them all once a day for 5 odd numbered business days in a row (ie: 12/3, 12/5, 12/7, 12/11, 12/13). Keep any and all messages you leave fresh and positive; understand they are busy and get alot of people trying to sell them things calling in there.
Keep your messages positive, clear and no longer than 15 seconds in length. Your last message should be a best of luck, and you understand things are busy with the holidays, and you wish their family a great holiday season.
Mail each of the people you speak with a short and clear thank you letter.
Anyway, that's an idea.

You didn't give many details, but I've heard that term a lot.
It sounds like you should keep looking or look at another job that is related to what you do, or a higher position. There are a lot of times where they will not be able to pay you as much as they should for your experience. You can always learn new things if you go to a higher level. Many companies, etc...like to "train" people because they have a certain way of doing things.
If you have a certain knowledge in the field, you can learn more.
Best Of Luck

When I was 18 years old and had zero job experience, I was told that I was overqualified because I finished a technical school.
They wanted no more than a high school diploma because nobody with more education would stay in that job for long.
I got a job somewhere else.

According to what I understand...being overqualified means that they think you are going to be an issue later on. You are pretty much too smart for management and that isn't good because it would make management look bad and cause a conflict especially if management tells you one thing and you don't feel like doing because "you are smarter than them".

Overqualified refers to a particular job - it means your education and experience are a lot more than is needed for that job. They probably won't hire you for it, since they'd feel that you wouldn't stay long, just until you found something better.

If you're a woman and you really need a job, you will probably have to dumb down your resume to get one in your area or keep searching for someone who actually wants a woman who has accumulated experience.
You also need to watch your body language in interviews. You are NOT an Alpha and you want to appear subservient even if it goes against the grain. Confidence in interviews rarely gets a woman a job.
If you're a man, it means you need to keep looking for a job that will challenge you. Dumbing down the resume will not be to your advantage.

means the work will probably not challenge and bore you and make you look for another job elsewhere and thus leave them in the same situation before they hired you
