I thought land's value always goes up no matter what. Is it a myth that real estate values will crash, they keep saying that every year but from my experience the housing value always goes up - even if it's a little bit. Isn't there less and less and available as time goes on so wouldn't the value always appreciate.

Company "badge flipped" employees, as of a certain date they no longer work with the former company, but instead work for the new company. In the agreement with the new company, some people will be kept on for a short transiiton period at the end of which they will receive severance specified under the original company's plan. However, if an employee doesn't want to go to the new company they receive no severance. But the original company is technically ending the person's employment, even if they are providing a new job. Is this legal?

New to this area, I am trying to find a dentist for my family. The first dentist was wonderful, but required an additional payment of my next born child for services. I have an awesome 80% dental coverage through work, and the old dentist accepted it as 100% payment. Was that just a fluke?

I bought a new car in 2002. Within that year I unexpectedly had a baby and was unable to work because of child care issues. My husband was still in school, so there was no way to make the car payment, so we returned the car (voluntary repo).

Well, I never heard another word from the finance company, so I figured there was no residual on it. Fast forward five years...I am doing my annual credit report, and find my repo conveniently placed on my transunion report. It says it was placed on it in 2002, but for some reason, was never spotted by any other creditors (I was able to purchase another car -with a low apr, and have been approved for other credit cards).

Anyways now I find this on my report and am left wondering, can I still be sued for the residual ($8000) after 5 years. I never recieved a notice or a phone call. There was never a judgement placed against me either. Should I just wait and hope this falls off my report in 2 more years?

I sell bird houses. I got a letter with 4 walmart money orders for $850.00 each. I told them I don't have that many items. They said send what items I have then give the extra cash to the shipper when he picks up the items. The money orders looks legal. The man to contact is in Nigeria. Is this a scam!

Would it be dangerous to give someone my social security number, name, birthday, and address? It would be for a credit application but it is not for a certified car dealer, its one of those smaller dealers.

I have bought and sold homes "by owner" in the past and it has worked well. This time my new employer offered to pay the realtor commission, so I got a good recommendation and hired a realtor who I think is decent. We signed an "exclusive right to sell" listing agreement for a 6 month term. However, personal circumstances are making me reconsider. He has done nothing to invalidate our agreement at this point. But, I do remember from a business law class that a contract has to have "consideration" to be legally binding. What is the consideration in a listing agreement? No cash changes hands until the sale takes place, and "future consideration" is non-binding (I think). I have reviewed the agreement several times looking for what consideration exists to make it legally binding. I can't see it, but I am an accountant, not a lawyer or R/E professional - any thoughts?

I wanted to get some advice on what I should do. My husband and I put a large deposit down on a landscaper (1,500). He promised the work done in 2 weeks, and hasn't done anything so far. We tried calling him and for a while, he had his phone rejecting phone calls, then on saturday we could leave messages again, but with no luck, he hasn't returned our messages. We found an old business that has negative marks on BBB, but not this current business. We spoted him on the streets and followed him to his new house. We aren't sure what the next step should be... I want to send him a legal letter to say that he is in breach of contract and if he doesn't comply, then we will file a lawsuit. I am affraid of the cost of money this might cost. If anyone has any advice... I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I have decided that I want to be a lawyer when I grow up. I tried researching the different types of lawyers, but I'm still not sure what the difference between some is. I am interested in the type of lawyer that defends either a criminal or the person or state accusing someone of a crime.

Please someone tell me the difference between prosecuters, civil lawyers, and criminal lawyers, what they do, and maybe even salaries.

I have 2 different school loans, one is at 7.2% interest rate, the other is twice the amount with a 2.8% interest rate. I've been paying about 2-3 times the minimum every month on the higher interest rate loan, but I'm still pretty far off from repayment. I am about a year into my car loan (a 48-month loan, unsure of the interest rate). I've been out of college and working for a year and haven't set up my 401K yet. I'm only 23 so I feel like I have lots of time, but everything I read says to do it ASAP! Should I be funding that instead of paying my loans back faster than required?

I'm not living paycheck to paycheck, I generally have some money left over to save every month and I don't carry credit card debt. I feel like I'm smart about money, but at a young age it's all kind of new and overwhelming! Any standard advice that could help me feel like I have a grip on all this? Any books that lay it out plan and simply?
