I live in the country and there are several homes including double-wides in my area.

Most are so well done that you would have to really look hard to even tell that they are trailers.

And to answer your question, no I would never make fun of someone no matter where they lived as long as they were making a effort to better themselves.

A doublewide on your own wooded lot will look and feel almost exactly like any traditional home.

It's much different from a single-wide trailer in a rental park. Though I've seen some actually very nice ones, it's still a trailer in a trailer park.

Two very different things. I wouldn't worry. Honestly, few kids your age would have a clue that your home was built in a factory instead of on-site.

Doublewides can be great - much wider than the old 12' or 14' trailers. Some of the newer ones are pretty tough to distinguish from a bungalow.

Anybody who makes fun of where you live - no matter where that is - is a knob.

I used to live in a doublewide and they are actually pretty nice especially if you keep them up! I was never made fun of in highschool and I actully had parties out on my land. We had bonfires and because we had our own land we were able to shoot off our own fireworks at the 4th of July and New Years. I had some really good memories and nobody ever made fun of me. Don't worry about it!

In a heartbeat, land deck and pool who cares if it is manufactured nice place room to run, what is said in High school really does not matter as you get older and more important out of High school when you do you will see a big difference in opinions and your own view on things. Congrats sounds like you will be getting a real nice place, enjoy it

Of course I wouldn't. Home is where the love is, the structure under the roof doesn't matter. Think about what a great new experience it will be. Waking to the sound of birds, not car exhaust or neighbor's with leaf blowers and lawnmowers. The pool will be a great place for you and your friends to have fun in the summer too. I think you'll end up really liking it.

OF COURSE NOT!!! No matter where you live, your real friends will not make fun of you and love you and not judge you on the status of your home. One of my best friend lives in a trailer, and she is the most amazing person I know. Don't be ashamed of where you live. And that is what i would take to be a good opportunity, pool, deck, middle of the beautiful nature. But whatever you chose, the people who really love you will not be friends with you because of your stuff but becaus of y-o-u.

No. I have been in some really nice manufactured homes. Nicer than some stick built homes

One I was in recently had a huge family room with a pool table, great kitchen, nice bedrooms just a great house.

I think you'll be just fine.

Could do without the pool. No added value there. Plus the liability is probably greater if a youngster gets hurt because of an inattentive adult.

I would not make fun of someone who chose to do so, but I surely would attempt to dissuade them from making such a decision, since the purchase of a double wide is a poor financial investment.

They tend to depreciate as do cars, rather than appreciate like conventional housing.
