My current lease is ending on July 31. In the new lease, the rent was increased by $40, and there is no longer a grace period. The old lease states that rent is due on the 1st of the month, and if not received within 5 days of the due date, a $100 fee will be imposed. The new contract states that the new rent amount is due by 5:00pm on the 1st of the month. Beginning at 9:00am the next morning, a $50 late fee will be imposed. And an additional $50 is due for every week that the rent is late.

Our landlords never gave us a problem with anything. We've always paid our rent and we never really heard from them for the entire year. The landlords know that I use my GI Bill money to pay rent. I can verify my amount on the last day of each month, and I receive the funds electronically within a few days. Therefore, we've been paying rent within the first 5 days of the month for the past year.

Are there laws in PA regarding a grace period?

Anyone else in a similiar situation?

My husband was laid off for six months, that is how we got behind on payments. He is back to work, but we don't know what to do from here. Do we rent? We have a family of 6. Will even a rental accept us because of past credit?

I have been searching all over to find information on this and there really hasn't been any clear answers. It is a townhouse development of 200 houses. I would like to add shareholders to pay off investors, but would like to know if that can work. If anyone knows I would be very grateful.

After extensive research, for a friend and me, I found out that Credit Unions are the best places to obtain a credit card, and loans. I live in Houston, Texas and found many options for a credit union so I don't know which one to choose in terms of getting a good credit card with fraud protection and all that kind of stuff that a credit card from a bank like Chase have, a saving and checking accounts with no or < $6 fees on each, and good range on loans.

I know the website that tells me which credit unions they offer here in houston, but I am more interested in personal experience with them and how did they work for you in both short and long terms. Most of the stuff I read has been only to praise each union, but which business doesn't do that, so I want to know the good and bad of the union yourself have joined and which ones you recommend.

I'm a full time graduate student and an independant contractor so I'll be getting a 1099 at the end of the year. I want to pay my estimated quarterly tax at the September deadline. Would it be better to hire a tax professional with their own practice or just H&R block?

We've been looking to buy a house for quite a while now.
Our credit sucks, but we've been working on it for 6 months now... got a secure credit card, pay all bills on time etc.. but the score has not gone up even one point yet...

We're trying to save for a down... but can only come up with 5% because we're trying to make sure all other bills are current (We have 2 sons who take up a lot of the budget)

We've been looking into the rent-to-own or lease-to-own option, but everyone just seems to want to take us for a ride, and rip us off.

I just don't know what to do anymore, I want to get into a house so desperately... we're paying $1200/mo in rent for a crappy apartment.

What else can I do to make this happen sooner?

4 years ago, my friend bought 4 rental units. He has had nothing but problems and it's getting worse. Tenants don't want to pay rent, he has to go to their doors in person to get them to pay, he has to miss time off work to go to court to evict them, tenants are constantly calling him to fix things, he's doesn't get to spend enough time at home with his wife and children... etc. He wants to get rid of the properties altogether. The properties have been for sale for 6 months now, and no one has interest what so ever in them. What can my friend do to sell the properties? He said that there's nothing he can do but advertise and just wait for someone to purchase them. But, isn't there something else he can do?
