Like a car?

I know the rate, but what does that mean?

Is it the total balance times the rate each month?

Or is it the total balance times the rate (for the year) divided by 12 (for just this month)????

Is it really that complicated? Am I that pathetic that I can't figure out how much interest I am paying each month?

Conversly how do you figure out interest on savings each month? (k side note, I have savings worth interest! err not much, but more than pennies!)

(Additional side note, IF husband works the same OT for the year, and IF we stay in budget, and IF there were no interest, we could pay the car off this year! course that is a lot of ifs! Most likely to fail being the interest, so I need to figure it out)

If you're unemployed for awhile and don't receive many responses from jobs you're qualified for and have applied to, is it sensible to dumb down your resume and apply for lesser positions?

Several years ago I developed a chronic medical condition, lost my job & was unemployed several years. I used my savings to pay my credit cards until I missed 2 payments in a row. I contacted the credit card company, worked out a deal to pay them back.
I am now employed, current on my bills & have been for several months even though they are charging me an usurious interest rate 29.95% I believe. I have not used this card since several months before my missed payments. I contacted the card company to lower this amount but they refused.
What are my options?

Hello!
I am interested in persuing a career path in the Financial Planning field. I am 26 now, and currently a Financial Planner in a Fortune 50 company. However, I'm questioning whether I want to work in corporate America all my life, or if I want to persue a career path in more "private" financial planning - mainly for individuals.

So for those of you who are Financial Planners right now - whats it like? What are the best aspects...and the worst aspects....of your job? Is getting the CFP worth it - or is an MBA more valuable? I'm questioning right now which path to take - 1) get an MBA or 2) get a CFP ($$ is not an issue since my company will pay for my full education).

Any insight you could provide into the field would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am pretty sure it is not random? Do they look at your adjusted gross income (agi) and compare it to the average deductions for everybody with a similare agi and audit you if you deviate too much from everybody else?

I was told by someone that with a debit card, the money that is used to reserve something, like a hotel room, will not be available to use until the transaction is cancelled. So say I had $500 on my debit card and the reservation (for a month away) was $300. Would that $300 still be available to use?

This will be the first year that I will be filing in the United States.

When I was filing taxes in Ontario, the money I paid in rent was a deduction so I listed it on my forms.

My husband says that this is not the case in the United States. Is this true and if so, why not?

If our landlord has to claim the money as income why can't we claim it as a deduction?

I am hoping to find a way around this.

My parents have $44,000 (Canadian) in debt (mainly cause of stupid study programs they got duped into when they came here). Our family income is $3200 and our monthly payments are $3900. We do not own a house and we live in Toronto,

Now considering this do you guys think debt consolidation is a good idea. Has anyone tried it? How did you guys like it. Pros and Cons. Plz I seriously need an opinion on this issue!!

Also, what could your boss (or another person who gives you work to do) do to cause you to like him or her more? (And, please, ignore the obvious things that only a relatively high-up person could do such as give raises or extra time off.)

Thanks for your input!
