This year I got married, I also started a mutual fund, invested in stock, and relocated to another state. Can I do my taxes by myself or do I need to go to a tax professional?

I would do them myself if I had those situations. The instructions are sometimes long but they are fairly easy to understand, just do one line at a time and read enough about each line to make sure you understand what it is asking. Always be 100% truthful when doing your taxes though, and don't let yourself be tempted to "fudge" a little here and there. You can be caught at it and it wouldn't be very pleasant. You MIGHT make a mistake somewhere and if they would catch it and ask about it you don't want to be hiding anything. They do realize people do make mistakes sometimes and the few times I have had a mistake (both ways- in their favor and in mine) they just corrected it for me and sent me the proper refund

If you've been doing your taxes yourself, you can probably continue to do so. Get something like TurboTax. None of the items you mention will be very complex.

You'll probably file a joint return - that almost always turns out best if you're married.

This is a simple procedure that you can do even from your house. I went to www.expresstaxrefund.com to file my taxes and had them done in no more than 10 minutes. If you even have a question you can do the life chat or call the free tech support.

Nothing there shows any reason not to do it yourself.
