Has something with your credit changed since last year?

Most of the time, the "pre-approvals" are based on last years info but contingent upon the bank running a new credit check this year when you file.

From my expirence with H & R .. if you have not filed taxes with them in the past, they do not have a history with you. What they did to me was give me a check for about half.. and in aprox 2 weeks they called me to come and pick up the remaining.. the state check gets mailed out. I was upset with them.. i said why would I pay for a 1-2 day loan.. when I still have to wait another 2 weeks for the rest.. I should have just gotten the 2 week. I use Jackson and Hewitt... and have been for several years... I dont have a problem with them at all... I use direct deopsit... to avoid the mail... and check cashing fees.. but if you didnt have an account... the card they give you is good... I would not get the RAL Loan unless I needed the money bad.. they charge way too much... if you get in Before the end of Jan... it usually comes in the mail... in about 2-3 weeks any way.. and costs you less!!

as far as i know it is a refund anticipation check until the irs actually gets the paperwork and determined you do not owe anything from previous years then they send you the remainder of the check you can call the tax preparation company you used and they should be able to tell you why you did not get the additional check

Sounds like you got hosed.

Instead of taking out a loan, you could have waited 6-8 weeks for the refund check, now you have payments and interest to deal with.

You may have owed some back taxes at some point. It could be state or local...ask them for the details.
