I got a new credit card. I enter my banking account information online into their system. I start making payments online through their system. I'm getting "Return Check Fees". I think, "That's odd, I could have sworn I had the money in the bank." I get a second "Return Check Fee" when I KNOW I had money in the bank.

I finally realize out I had mis-entered my banking information! Now, I've got 2 return check fees, 2 late fees and 1 over the limit fee because they never got ANY of my payments. I finally pay the balance off in full but the 2nd Return Check Fee hit after I paid everything off and now I have a balance of $35. I called them and talked to them for 45 minutes but they wouldn't reverse ANY of the fees.

I explained to them the situation and hoped they would act in good faith and reverse just one the fees so I could have a $0 balance and close the account. They NEVER made an effort to check my bank information or contact me nor did I have to enter it twice to confirm

I just got a call from a small claims officer and I've been told that I'm going to small claims. They are willing to settle for 1100. This was my ex's fault but I have to pay for it. How can I come up with $1100 I work, but I pretty much live pay check to pay check.

Seems instead of harrassing you; it's the 'Scarlet Letter' approach!
Over a year ago my elderly neighbor told me of this practice and I discounted it, as it doesn't seem legal.

Today I get a call at 10:20am Central time from (on ID as:) 972-555-1212! She introduces herself as an Investigator from Wasau County. She asks if I know 'so and so'. I asked her who this is, she gives me her name as Sandy Stone. She asks me if I know 'so and so, my neighbor' and speals off addresses. She claimed it is not collections. Private investigator? She hedged, it's Global Investigations Services out of Dallas Texas! They (the company) call neighbors or others in the general vacinity of their 'target of investigations'. She asked if I knew 'so and so, aforementioned neighbor's girlfriend', does he still drive a 'colour and make of car'! Left phone # of 18003814640x205 for me to tell neighbor! 'Scarlet Letter' my neighbor and me be the 'bad guy'? WHAT?!

after a discharge you are required to report it and even pay stuff back. My question is if you could safely but money into cd's with kids name on it so that you wouldn't have to claim it? I don't want to be dishonest but any savings I may accumulate over these next months I want to safe guard from this mess happening again...Anybody know anything about this? Thank you

I'm having my dad get a loan on a house I want. I will be living in the property and making all mortgage payments (My name will NOT be on the deed - as of right now there's no chance for my name to be on the deed). I can have this property paid off pretty soon, once its' paid I want the house put in my name. Even though I'm the one that paid for the house, if it's put in my name.. will we have to pay a gift tax or capital gains tax on the transfer?

This question is for those who are financially worry-free. I don't mean wealthy people or those who don't take care of their own finances. I mean people who are working, raising families, and yet on top of their financial situation.

I am married with 2 young sons. What we make in take home pay covers well over our usual bills. Groceries and gas are budgeted, but a little looser. Saving money seems like a joke. I budget out our finances to the point I get obsessed with it. It doesn't seem to matter how much out of debt we get, we can always find some place to use the extra money instead of using it to pay off another debt. I'm really frustrated because I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Why can I figure it on paper, but can't make it happen? I write out a meal plan for an entire month and stick to it very closely, we don't eat out, and we don't go out. Because of our situation, I really worry about how my sons will learn to manage finances. Give me a clue!
