I will proclaim my complete lack of knowledge in how taxes are figured. So I'm wondering if this tracks with anyone since it doesn't with me. In the year 2006, I was single with no dependents. Therefore my W-4 was filled out as being not married with only 1 allowance (me). I taking in weekly net $735. I got married to a woman with a child back in July. Revised my W-4 to start January 1, 2007 to state I was married with 3 allowance (me, her, and her kid). Under the new W-4, I'm taking in $738. Now that's what doesn't track with me. I change my status to married with 3 allowances instead of 1 and my net only goes up $3. Does that make sense?

I have a job that I dont really like, so my friend kept pushing me to try for an interview at where she works. I called and set up an interview, but now I dont want to go. After careful consideration, I dont want to make a move that will be just as bad as the situation I am in now. The new job would be all nites and pay a considerably less amount then what I make now. It would also be in a field I am not very familar with. How do I get out of the interview and also explain to my friend that I'm sorry, but this isnt the right choice for me.

My wife is a stay at home mom, and she is always busy. It's a 24/7 job, and she hardly has any time for herself, and when she does get time to herself, she is sleeping.

If she were working these type of hours at an office she would get a nice tax return, I think stay at home moms should also get a tax return.

What do you think ?

I'm interested in gaining information about buying a parcel of Land in New York City. Either to hold and resell, or possibly to develop. Nothing too drastic to begin with, the largest maybe 50' by 50'

Does anyone have any insights as to what is involved, any websites to research or brokers to deal with.

Please share your personal experiences if you have them.

Thanks!

I have Feb calls on a AKS right now. The Jan calls expire today. The stock is up nearly 2% which would usually cause the call options to rise. The Jan calls are up but the Feb calls are all at a stand still, however, their volume is rising quickly. Why are the Feb prices not rising? Does it have to do with the Jan options expire today?
Thank you

I currently work for an architectural practice 1.5 days a week. I also have my own business but is taking a while to get the work in. I have now been asked to do hours at my old job.
I dont really want another job for during the day but when I have previously asked if I can take work home to do my boss was not keen. I think this time he may allow it as he has asked me to work for him rather than me ask for a job.
The problem is I have also been asked to do more hours at my current job, but dont want to as I dont enjoy it as much. Is there a way I can do hours for my old job without my current job finding out? Can I be on the payrole for my current job and invoice (ie be self employed) with my old job?
Any ideas?

I’m a Mortgage Loan Officer and my was given a New Purchase home loan referral by my cousin because his bank could not fund the loan. I was able to fund the loan and close the deal total commission off the deal was $7,320.00 and my cut was 75%, so I made $5,490 off the deal....I want to give him part of my commission because he referred the loan to me but don’t know how much I should offer him? Should it be a percentage of the commission? Or just a "Flat rate"? We have a very good relationship and I want to be fair with him and he said he would send me other loans his company is not able to fund, because I have more resources? I just want to be fair to him and not be greedy?

Here is the quick background. I was in credit counseling and lost my job. I then couldn't make the payments and had to leave counseling. I had a tempoary job and got a bit caught up I have a full time job again and am working on paying things off. I completely forgot about one card, got a call yesterday from a collection agency They said that i should have recieved a collection notice in the mail I said i didn't get it which was true but it was in my mailbox when i got home from work. the amount is around 5500 they offered me a settlement for 3900 but i can't do that They said that the account would go to chargeoff status and affect my credit score, and that they could file judgement against me. My boyfriend is a mortgage consultant, both him and his boss said they have never seen a credit card judgement. I'm reading all this stuff about judgements and it scares me. My boyfriend said that i should just let the collection sit there and that it probably won't do anything. I'm in MD.
