What's involved with Buying a lot (parcel) of land in New York?

I'm interested in gaining information about buying a parcel of Land in New York City. Either to hold and resell, or possibly to develop. Nothing too drastic to begin with, the largest maybe 50' by 50'

Does anyone have any insights as to what is involved, any websites to research or brokers to deal with.

50x50 would be a very very small lot indeed! That is only 2500 square feet....most apartments are that big.
