I only owned the house a few months, so it's a short-term gain, I assume, but it seems against the purpose of the investment rules, because my investment started with the sales contract at 15K down in 9/03. So, my investment was held over two years. It seems in the spirit of long-term gain, if within the letter of short-term gain.
Any way around the settlement date being the date the investment commenced?

My work is having a "mandatory" employee meeting this Sunday, that I have no intention of attending. I have been to several of these meetings and there is always a lot of bitching with nothing really being resolved or acomplished. I left my boss a not letting him know that I would not be attending because I would be out of town. I am now expecting him to call me. Why can I say I am leaving town? (It must sound important and believable!)

What type of grants do I apply for and where can I find it? Where can I find out how to do a business plan? I'd rather buy the building as opposed to renting it. I plan to have about 4-5 stylists, an esthetician, and a nail tech.

I know Google's search engine is probably the best on the web. They have a popular e-mail service. They also offer Google Docs, Google Talk, and Google News among many, many other services. Google makes their money from advertising revenue, but why is their stock worth $500? Am I missing something here and this is stock is valued completely on hype? Where does Google create such value when they sell absolutely nothing besides advertisements?

I live in Arkansas and have recently lost my job and my husband and I are getting divorced. We have 1 child. We have a very large credit card debt load (30,000.00) that is all in my name. Our home is in both our names and we have a 29,000.00 home equity loan that we got back in Sept 06 so we do not have any equity left in our house. We are trying to sell the house right now but I am not sure if it will sell to pay off the mortgage and home equity loan. I am considering bankruptcy and talked with an attorney through a free consultation and I would qualify for Chapter 7 where it would wipe all my debt away. I know this is the worst thing I can do for my credit but it may be my only option. I do not want it to affect my husband's (soon to be ex) credit so that he will be able to get things in case our son needs something. Would it affect him with his name being on the house or could I even file bankruptcy on the house too? Any information would be greatly apprecitated.

This consumer product costs $7 each and I like the product. While cheaper ones are available in the market, the special features of this particular product are unique, which I like.

And they also make an additional one-time offer. They say, 'buy just 1 unit now, and if you like it, subsequently buy 15 units of the same for $100, and we'll return your $100 after 3 years with 5% simple interest, i.e., $115. You can take the 15 units right now, or in 4 installments of any number of units per installment, over the 3 years, any time of your choice." I would require 10 to 20 units per year, anyway.

They say, the reason for this offer is to meet their cash flow, by making customers who like their products to buy more units, by paying them early. They say, this offer also means they hold me insured against future price increases.

I'm hearing of them just now.

Should I take this offer or is there a catch?

Is there any extra information I should ask from them before accepting it?
