My friend is paying me $500 with credit card using paypal for "service" not goods or auctions, will I get a fee taken off?

Is there a way my friend can pay using his credit card and for me to get no or low fee?

Yeah, tell your friend to cover the charges. You will get charged a percentage. That's how PayPal makes money. So look up what the charge will be and tack it on to your buddy's tab.

I may be way off. I haven't used paypal for awhile, so memory is faded. To accept a cerdit card payment you have to have a business account and it will charge you a fee. It is a certain % of the amount sent. The best way would be for him to add the money to his account first (I think I remember seeing somewhere that you could do that)and then send it and it won't cost you. I am not much help I guess.

any company who accepts Credit Cards for payment
has to pay the credit card company a FEE for using - that includes
initial charges and refunds

e.g. - the fee is 2.5 %

say you buy $100 and return the merch for a $100 credit

the merchandiser is out $5 in fees for no sale ($2.50 + 2.50)

lower fees are reserved for high transaction customers

only way to get 'no' fees is to accept a check
