I am 23, no mortgages. I didn't get any new loans or close out any old ones. I have no loans out. The only thing that I have do with my credit cards is for large purchases which I pay off almost immediately after they post (I do this for the cash back). I spent/paid off about $2500 on one card. Could just this cause it to jump 29 points? Both scores were from the same company too, Equifax. This is only the 2nd credit report that I have run and added the FICO score on, so I do not know if these fluctuations are normal.

I am a young professional and would like to begin investing part of my income in addition to my 401K. I have only $2000 to start with, but I since I recently paid off a debt, I expect to be able to contribute an additional $300 - $400 each month. If anyone knows of a stable stock or fund with a good return rate that fits my budget, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

I have 2 debts on my credit report that are both charge offs. Both are credit card debts over the amount of 1000 dollars. I made bad decisions when i was younger and i am trying to get them either payed, by getting the debtor to agree to a paid in full status on my credit report or explore the option of the state statute of limitations. The statute of limitations in texas is 4 years... so does this mean they can no longer collect on this debt? If i claim the SOL does this mean the debt still remains on my report or can i write the bureus and try to get this taken off?

We moved a year ago and have had terrible luck selling our mobile home since they depreciate, and it's in a mobile home park. We were even considering purchasing land and moving it. Is this a good way to go? We owe 41,000 and it's a 2000 Fleetwood doublewide. We pay approx $400 mortgage payment on it, and $288 in lot rent. Since we can't sell it, what if we donated it? How much would we get back in taxes? Could we deduct the 41,000, and, if so, would we probably get it back? If so, it might be best to just donate it.... keep paying the mortgage (it would eliminate the lot rent at least) and then in 2007 (for 2006 taxes) we would get most or all of it back??????? Is this how it would work??? Your thoughts..... We don't know what we are doing and any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have gripes, complaints? Anyone satisfied with managed accounts? Obviously, more than 1.5 - 2% per month is nothing to complain about...

I know that PMI is an amount you pay if you don't put a down payment of at least 20% of the value. If the apprasial value is higher than the purchase price the lower price is used for the 20%. The question is if the apprasial value of the home is less than the purchase price how much do you have to pay in to be considered not required to pay PMI? This is a property in NYC.

eg. Purchase price = 100,000;
apprasial value = 50,000

what is the down payment amount without being subject to PMI?
a) 20% of purchase price = 20,000 or
b) 20% of value + difference = 60,000 = (20% of 50,000 + (100,000 - 50,000) difference between purchase price and appraisal)

Thanks

I live with my daughter and my babys father. We are not married but have lived togeter for 3 years. I worked this year but did not make as much money as he did. Can we file our taxes jointly even though we are not married. Can he file as head of household and claim us as dependents. Or should we files seperatly. I heard it was against the law to file jointly on a tax return if you are not married. I live in Ohio.

If a prize is won that is large enough to have to claim on a tax return (over $600 generally), I know that gambling losses can be counted against it if there is proof of the loss (receipts, losing lottery tickets, etc). But, in order to count these gambling losses against the larger-than-$600 prize, does the person filing the return have to be itemizing their deductions, or can it be done by someone who is just taking the standard deduction and exemption?
