My mortage loan officer just sent my documents to escrow, and has ordered an appraisal...what does the process entail next? I am buying from a family member and I know the home is in great shape...are inspections still required? Where can I encounter bumps at this stage? Thanks!

depending on what state you are in the next thing will be to just sit back and wait. It is always best to get an inspection just to have your own piece of mind (even if it is family). I you haven't already submitted tons of paperwork you may have to dig up papers regarding banking and payroll and taxes. Good Luck and Congratultions on the new home!
