You must be 18 to get a credit card unless you have a cosigner.

If you think you are responsible enough for one I'd say go for it. Get a limit of say $500.00 on it and make sure you always pay off the balance every month no matter what.

A credit card can teach you good financial responsibility.

I had my first card at 14, with my mother as a cosigner. I have since NEVER paid any finace charges or late fees. and have a near perfect credit score. and I'm 40.

Once you start paying finance charges you are doomed.

What I did was use the card for convience, instead of carrying cash. I never bought anything on the card, unless I had the cash in the back to pay for it when the bill came in.

If you follow that advice you will begin to build a great credit history whitch is VERY important.

You have to be 18 to get ANY credit card. Credit cards are considered contracts and thus you must be 18 or they could lose their money.
