I have been paying this collection agency for a year and they have been cashing my checks. Now I get a phone message that I am not paying enough and I need to call them by a cretian date or they will move forward on my case??? I thought as long as you were paying they couldn't do anything to you? I wouldn't be paying if I wasn't going to pay back the debt in full, but I can only pay the amount I have been sending them. Are they just empty threats and should I go on paying like I have been?

i have been off work for the last 6 weeks due to depression, i am signed of for a further 2 weeks, the reason is that pressures at work have got to a point it was affecting me and my family, My employer moved me from my job, sideways on to the vans delivering our products, the guy they replaced me with , came in on around £50 more than me pw. when i complained i was told it was none of my business and if i didnt like it, to leave!!
i am now at a point where i am not wanting to go back and am considering handing my notice in, i have worked there for nearly 11 years, i am now on statuatory sick pay, to top it all the new guy who replaced me is now leaving also, BUT, if i leave what am i entitled to, our Holidays ran from january to december so i have not used any up yet for 2007, am i right in thinking that i am entilted to all that years holiday pay also if i dont go back because of my depression and being afraid it will all happen again is that classed as constructive dismissal.

What's the right way show employment history on a resume, when the employer was a temp agency and the actual work done was for a client of the agency. (Made up example: employed by Acme Staffing to cook at Coyote Restaurant)

Hi, All,

I earned interests both on my checking account and High-Performance Money Market. I received a report from the bank (cannot remember the type of form, something like 1099...)of the total interests I earned for year 2005. When H & R tax preparer helped me with the filing of tax return, I asked if I need to pay tax for the interests earned and showed her the report. She didn't even look at it and said I don't need to. I just want to make sure that for a resident alient, do I need to file tax on my interests earned on checking/HPMM/CD? Thanks a lot.

Example : an OAP gives her last 10p to Oxfam so that they can provide food and clothing for the needy. Oxfam presumably have to give a great deal of their money to oil companies to pay for transportation costs. So the OAP has effectively given her money to the oil companies, most of which are making several BILLION pounds of profit every year.

Does this logic stand up, or not? By giving to charity we are effectively giving to oil companies? Shouldn't the oil companies charge NOTHING to charities?

Any thoughts appreciated.

we were broken into while we slept upstair. This follows on from yesterdays question on same subject.
We had all letters, credit/debit cards, 3 cheque books, 2 driving licences, all credit card bills, gas/elec bills, all my company work in a briefcase stolen. Lots of other stuff was taken but my question is about the possibility that now our identity will be cloned.
Of course we have stopped all cheque books and credit/debit cards but what practical steps can we take now to ensure we dont have to put up with being cloned and our credit rating falling through the floor?
It was a very pro job and we are very worried they have so much infomation on us both. Are we liable if bank accounts are set up in our names and large bills are run up?
banks say check accounts each day and report any transactions that we dont think are ours. Is this all we can do surely there is much more?
advise please would be fantastic as we really arn't sure what to do

I have a 6 unit, non-owner occupied building in Chicago. I have a studio for rent. Am I allowed not to rent it to more than a single occupant. How about if it is a married couple or 2 family members like a mom and kid, or a married couple thats pregnant? Any one know what limits I am allow legally to keep. I know that I can not restrict occupancy to less than 2 people per bedroom if they are all related. I'm not trying to be a slum lord, I just think its a very small studio and too many people will put too much strain on the rest of the building's ammenities and make the situation worse for my current tenants. Also am I allowed to charge additionall for additional persons??

So I received a phone call earlier today saying that I would receive to boarding passes for a cruise if I answered a survey. I did it and talked to a "representative" and gave them only my cell phone number and name. I have been researching this and think that it is a scam and I know I should've done that earlier but I'm only human and screwed up. What do you think I should do because I do not want to have anything bad happen on account of these bastards and my own naive demeanor. I sent a message to my cell phone company telling them what happened and gave them the number to the place that called. But I don't know where to go from there. I would really appreciate any advice that could be offered because I am kind of freaking out about it. Thanks:)

My dad met a woman who works for a very prominent insurance company and he told her that I was in insurance, too... She gave him her card and told him to have me give her a call if I was ever interested in a position. This was several months ago and at the time I was pregnant and had just started a new job, so I did not call. Should I e-mail/call her now or do you think it is too late?
