I'm still pretty inexperienced with credit. I've only had one credit card (a Visa) for the past three years, and it has no annual fee. I just got a second (a MasterCard), and it has an annual fee of $79. Should I shop around for a different card sans the annual fee and nix the new one? Or will most cards charge an annual fee?

So I've been having troubles confronting my boss about my two weeks notice. The time is coming close and don't want to wait until it's shorter than 2 weeks. Everyday that I have set myself to talk to her, she's left the office early or there's 6 other people in the office, so I can never get her alone to tell her. I have typed up a resignation letter with all of my explainations about why i'm leaving. I was not planning to tell her anything when I gave her the letter other than " I figured it would be best for me to present this to you in person".

I was wondering if it is improper to just put the letter in an envelope and lay it on her desk, so that when she has the chance, she will be able to look over it on her own time, or should I really wait to tell her that " I figured it would be best for me to present this to you in person"? This will be my first time giving my notice, which I'm happy about because I'm ready to work at my new job.

A group of guys want to start up a general contracting company, and they have the necessary expertise in bidding and running government projects. What they don't have is the financial backing so they are looking for a partner.

Will the insurance company require collateral in equal amount to the bond? Do they accept less? Do they require more?

My test ran late and I absolutely could not leave so missed my interview. Yes, I know it's an awful start, etc. How can I try to make-up fo that mistake and prove that I am the best choice for the position w/o seeming too apologetic or desperate? Also, it's common to do phone interviews first for internships so please don't say "oh they don't want you, etc.". I really appreciate your help! Thanks!

I accepted an offer on a job last week (let's call it Company A) but my dream job came up a few days later (Company B). I have signed an offer letter to confirm my start date with Company A as 20th Dec but have not signed the contract as yet. I plan to call the Company A tomorrow and tell them that I want to accept the other job with Company B (better salary/hours/prospects) but need to know where I stand. Does anyone happen to know whether an acceptance of an offer is still binding even though the contract has yet to be signed and my start date is still a week away? Thanks x

When is the right time to move out?
I'm living with my parents. I'm the last of my siblings in the house, i have the run of the place. in order to move out i'll need a part time job for financial stability. the parents don't want me to go. my friends say the part time job would be a bad deal. my full time employer doesn't think i should need a part time job. but if i'm not moving towards independence and goals, what am i working towards?
My other options: don’t take the security job. Don’t ask the girl out. Stay at my parents house; keep them happy. Work the full time job, work the uscg reserves. Put some energy towards a masters. Wait on some raises. Wait on a gal. Wait on moving out. Patience is the route that I’ll be looking at. Patience sucks.

I got a phone call from my father. He said that he had my credit card and bill. I said, "huh???" Basically, what it boils down to is that the company changed my address to his, because they SAID that they got return mail with his address as the forwarding address. I called the USPS and they do not have any forwarding addresses for me. What I am concerned about is the disclosure of personal credit information to a third party without my consent. Or am I just being stupid?? I mean, what if my father was a dead beat and charged up my card??

There is a small shop in my office building that sells basic items like soda, chips, nylons, and cards. It is the only place that is close that sells soda, but it is always past the sell-by date. (It sometimes does taste nasty and everyone in the building knows he still sells it past-due) I mentioned it to the owner once and he just shrugged at me. I wanted a soda with lunch today so I went there and all of the sell-by dates were rubbed off! I took a chance and bought one and it tastes horrible. That really burns me.
Is displaying only out-of-date merchandise against his distribution contract with the soda companies? Is there anything my office can do to about it?

Okay I asked a question earlier about having to pay use tax on International purchases on the internet, and one person did answer saying that, it's a personal asset tax where you get to decide how much of the sales tax you want to pay, etc, and lastly said that very, very, very few people actually file those because it's impossible for them to track all the purchases. And use tax to my understanding is a tax put on purchases made out of state or country. But last year I had a few out-of-state purchases, and one really tiny out of country purchase, and I didn't get anything from the IRS saying I had to pay an extra tax or anything.

So is this an optional tax?
