I recently accepted a job in Hosuton TX at a salary of 52k. I am single mom with 2 children and pay childcare expenses. I am also a home owner. I am accustomed to getting substantial income tax returns and would like to continue to get them. How do I make sure that I can keep the most money during the year from my paycheckks without owing at the end of the year? I want to maximize my dollars throughout and at the end of the year. Last year I made 41k so I want to make sure my tax bracket is not going to throw me for a loop? Any general advice? Thanks!!!

I am deciding whether to purchase a 1bdrm apartment in Manhattan or to rent. I am planning on living in Manhattan for about 5 years, and want to know if this is worth the investment. The reason I ask is that I can not bear to throw away 30K a year on rent, rather, I'd like to spend that money on buying a place. My wife and I will most likely live in the city for about 5years and then sell the place to finance a home in the suburbs. Is the NYC market going to burst? Seems like in every other market, the housing market is on the decline but NYC is immune to this. Can someone please help shed some light on this topic and whether I should buy or rent now? I dont want to lose money on this investment and want to make the most well informed decision. THX!!!

as soon as I reach the age of majority? I am 20 years old and I have a trust fund that has around $250,000 in it. I don't know how it is being handled and I am actually trying to get that handled right now. I have had to file a number of complaints on the account officer. I don't even know much of anything about how a trust fund works. Anyways, what do I have to do to have all the funds drawn out of any kind of investments they might be in and in an account that I can use at my dispense when I reach the age of majority(21)? Would I just have to let the account officer know of my plans for the money? Will they have to do as I wish after I turn of age? I already have a family, two daughter and a husband, and I have had my plans for this money planned out for awhile. I want to buy a house, a nicer vehicle, and invest the rest for my childrens future. I just want to know will I be able to start pursuing my plans as soon as I turn 21(required age)? What is the process that happens then?

9 months ago I took out a loan from sallie mae for 10,000. Recently my husband called them to find out the balance on the loan because (grrrrrrr) they dont put the balance on the statements. We came to find out that they tackled another $800 for insurance!! My balance is now 11,416!! None of the 280 bucks we have been paying on it has even taken care of part of the loan!! Does anyone know of a different company that I could switch my outrgaeous loan to with a decent interest rate? Your help is appreciated!

I am renting office space in a converted warehouse. The contract specifies that heat is included in the rental price, and that didn't matter in the summer. Now it's December in MA, and we are still without heat. The landlord has worked with a heating company and all the ducts are in, but they are having trouble getting their heating contractor to finish the job. It is too cold in there to work. Do I have any recourse? Can I break the lease because there is no heat now, even though they have promised for several months that heat is coming? Any help with this is appreciated.
