I work at a daycare in North Carolina. My boss claims she is not required to pay overtime, even though my checks are taxed like every other worker in the state. I always thought that anyone who works over 40 hr. per week gets "time and 1/2" for each hour worked after that. Can anyone help me?

If so, what kind of work do you do and how did you get into it? If not, is your current job the worst job you've had and what would you love to do instead?

Examples:
What is the calculation to translate 20 hours worked in a week to annualized hours? In other words, the amount to pay IS NOT 20 hours * annualized hourly rate of pay. I have to annualize the hours first.

Should I get a slide-card machine, fingerprint reader, punch-cards/PIN machine, make them actually sign in on a cpu (that they won't use), or should I just take verbal attendance. Please leave a reason as to which one is best, I would really appreciate it.
