Should I get a slide-card machine, fingerprint reader, punch-cards/PIN machine, make them actually sign in on a cpu (that they won't use), or should I just take verbal attendance. Please leave a reason as to which one is best, I would really appreciate it.

use a fingerprint or other bio-scanner - it's the best way to avoid potential problems with employee malfeasance.

My employer uses a machine that reads UPC-like bar codes on individual time cards.
We are warned that using others' cards will be cause for termination, so there has been no "clocking in for late friends" type abuse.
I think it is fairly expensive, tho--and punch clocks would do the same at a better price.

We use a slide card machine where I work. We have to slide it to get in the door and then we slide again to clock in so for you they would have to use it to get in and then you would know the attendance and how long they worked.
