Quality involves what a final project looks like. That is to say is it properly completed. This means both visible and invisible aspects. High quality means that every aspect has been thought through and works. Low quality means that few aspects have been considered.

Quality has many impacts on project management. If a project manager strives for a high quality product or service, more time and testing may have to be put in to the effort. For lower quality output much less time will be put in.

Decisions have to be made as to whether a product meets the quality standards that the project requires.

A great example is completing road work. If the ground settles under a newly paved road, the road will sink and crack. This is the type of work that requires high quality and much more time to make sure that it is completed properly.

Lower quality products include plastic items. Many of the plastic toys from Hong Kong used to be poorly cut and quite rough. This low quality made them possibly dangerous to children.

Take care,
Troy
