When you're making a standard, multi-step income statement do you

1) Lump all income at the top and then start subtracting expenses by category

or

2) do you only put sales revenue and cost of goods sold at the top and then non-operating income goes down lower alongside non-operating expenses?

She was mean and rude. I called corporate to complain about hours and mentioned that she had her Husband and Child in the store helping. She was fired because of that. I never thought she would get fired and now other employees hate me. How do I redeem myself? I never liked her because she was always thinking of herself and not her employees. I have gone to her with problems that just fell on deaf ears. She worked the hell outta us and was very rude at times. Is it ok to "bust" on your boss? I know that life at my job is gonna be tough the next few weeks and it will be because of me. I can't take it back, what's done is done! How do I stand up for myself with the other employees? I just hate the stress involved in all this, but cannot afford to quit. Advice please??

I will be buying my parents' home. We'd like to ask the local realtor to handle all of the details. Should we offer a percentage of the sales price or a flat fee for this service? She won't need to list the house or negotiate anything and the financing won't be an issue, so three percent seems to be a bit much.

My wife and I file a joint tax return.
Our accountant made a mistake by underestimating our personal state tax witholdings for 2005. I detected the error and got a higher state tax refund. However he tells us that, on the federal side, correcting the state tax error won't make any difference because of the alternative minimum tax. Is that correct?
If it doesn't in then in what situations does increasing/correcting the state tax withholdings make a difference for the federal tax return?
Thanks

We have a wonderful little bar a couple of blocks out of the way, in a downtown neighborhood that eventually will be upgraded (Investors have now bought older, commercial buildings all around it)...we do not serve much food--hot dogs, chili, quesidillias, etc because there is no proper kitchen or any opportunity to expand like that...word of mouth has helped, but no one wants to walk out of their way....
