Of course you can. Be wary of who you get it from though. Finance companies are notorious for ripping you beyond what you could imagine. Not only do they have high interest loans, but frequently sell you scads of insurance you don't need as "part" of the loan. You will probably get your best deal from a bank, but they like to sell insurance to. If you need it that's one thing, but often people who have disability insurance through work get it one their loan too. Loan disability insurance is expensive. Only you can decide if you need it or not. If you have sufficient life insurance you probably don't need it on your loan also. Again your decision, but something you need to think of. Watch out for the ultimate trick, they will add your furniture as collateral on the loan and include household goods insurance on the loan too. It's expensive and if you already have insurance on your household contents you probably don't need it. The biggest issue about all this insurance is that they charge you premiums and add it to the amount you borrow. Not only do you pay for premiums you may or may not need, you are paying interest on those premiums as well. If you decide you don't need the insurance be sure to tell them up front or it will probably be there and they might try to pressure you into taking it. Many people feel intimidated and believe if they don't take the insurance they won't get the loan. NOT TRUE, if you don't want it stand up for yourself and just say no. Please don't take this as my saying you don't need it, I'm saying you need to decide if you need it and if you decide against it, tell them no.
