You always read in the newspapers that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates to stop inflation. But nobody ever really explained why Inflation is bad to the layman. Sure, they say inflation means same amount of money can buy less things and that is bad. But that is a mantra which doesn't really explain, why it seems to me the chief purpose of the Fed is to fight inflation, and not fight deflation. All periods of economic growth will have a degree of inflation. As we have seen from Japan's 14 year experience from 2000 to only recently, deflation can be bad too, with no jobs and low GDP growth. So explain to me why inflation is bad, in detail. I want to put the best answers on my blog at http://randomthoughtsofanagingbabyboomer.blogspot.com
Thank you

How much change (in $ prediction) can a glass 5-gallon Sparklets Bottle hold?
I have an old arrowhead/sparklets glass water bottle filled with change. The change is in completely random denominations. We are taking guesses how much each bottle contains. Anyone have an opinion? Or real-life experience to help get a quality on the value of the contents. Please share!

apparently it is an "account" through Republic Bank and trust company specifically for people that have negatives through chexsystem and can't get a normal bank account. You get an atm card and can do online banking and have your checks direct deposited. Just looking for feedback.

I just opened a business, and I want to be able to run credit cards manually. I do a gutter business, we go to homes and do peoples gutters, and then write down their credit card information, and then I want to be able to charge it. Where can I do this? That is not super expensive.

I got hired by an accounting firm. I was supposed to start work in July. I asked for an extension so that I could study for the CPA exam. The firm gave me the time off I requested. Now, I start in October, and I realize that I still NEED more time to study...I am afraid to ask for another extension of time off because they might get tired and fire me, even before I start. They were already very generous with giving me the extension of time off. Studying for the CPA exam will be harder with my work obligation on top of that...It is very time consuming...I want to start work with a clear mind thinking I passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam before I start....any suggestions for me?
