I am in the midst of a career change into the field of property management and I anticipate daily confrontation on a wide range of issues. I am seeking a book specifically tailored to the field or a general publication with some helpful guidelines that may prove useful outside the office as well.

For myself dealing with difficult people is relatively easy as long as I remember 3 things:

1. This person is NOT my opponet or my enemy regardless of whether he might feel differently about me.

2. This person will cooperate as long as I let him think that he is in charge of the situation. Even though we will still do things my way or the "preferred" way, we will allow him to think that he is running the show.

3. Just because he is angry with me, I have no reason to be angry with him. I can defeat him more effectively with kindness than I can with opposition.

Remember those three things and you will never fail when it comes to dealing with difficult people again.
