Hair - September 2006

I went in today to get a strand of my hair test permed. Meaning, a small strand went through the process of getting permed to see if my hair will curl right.

The process through this salon was free since she didn't want me to spend a lot of money and it not work out.

How much should I have tipped? If I am able to go through the complete process, and pay out 100$ for it, how much should I tip then?

I'm black and my hair is really thick and long. I don't want to perm it yet, but I can't think of any other hairstyles I can get but twists, cornrows and braids. I have considered dreads, but if someone has a different style I'M LISTENING!

ok... so my hairs naturally dark brown...and i had it blonde for a while but recently dyed it dark brown again... and now its getting lighter cuz the colors fading... its like a really light brown now... so im gonna dye it dark brown again and i got the idea to get blonde highlights on ONLY the bottom half or the bottom 3/4 of my hair... not a lot.. just a few subtle blonde highlights... but idk how that would look?? people usually do light on top dark on bottom... or even dark on top and light on bottom but i just want to get blonde highlights on the bottom 3/4 of my hair... sometimes i think it would look cute but sometimes i think it would look really weird... my boyfriend says it would look really weird and i get depressed when my hair is not exactly how i want it to be so i dont wanna do it and have my hair look like shiiit.

what do you think.... and does anyone have any pics of what it would look like?!!?

how do i get my coarse thick frizzy poofy hair to be smooth soft and silky? Deep conditioners, home made deep conditioners ? conditioners and shampoos? smoothing serums? ANYTHING!!!? Has anyelse found out that Paula Young wigs is a lying thieving corporation? They took my money, did not send the product, lied about it. Then admitted the product was not sent. Asked for refund, the said it was sent, then the next day they said they will send it. I have been told 4 times that it was sent and that they will send it. Caveat Emptor.

I have shoulder length hair and I wash it every other day. Recently I've noticed that my scalp is dry and the next day (after the wash) the top seems oily. Right now I'm using Herbal Essences but before that, I was using SunSilk. Is it the shampoo and conditioner that I'm using thats making it go funny? Is there something I can do to make my hair less flaky and less oily? Any suggestions?

i have brown hair. i colored it a light blonde last april and it turned out instead a light brown.. my roots have grown in. i bought this hair dyeing kitits called born blonde. its for people with black hair to go plpatinumblonde in one color.. should i wait a couple months and then dye my hair.

my hair is slightly wavy and very frizzy. i have a chi straighter but im afraid it will ruin my hair if i straighten my hair every day. then i saw an ad in a magazine for the new conair designer tourmaline dryer and straightner and i was just wondering if i really works and if it works better or worse than a regular professional salon straightner.
