Can anyone tell me how they started their acting career? Film and stage theater both. I just want some ideas as to how some of you got your careers started. Thanks a bunch.

This is my first ever callback for a play. The play is The Diary of Anne Frank. I've auditioned for several plays before, and this is the first time I've gotten a callback. Seasoned actors...any ideas or advice? What should I expect? What can I do to prepare and what should I wear? Someone said I shouldn't wear any make-up...not sure, though...

And, please I do not want ridiculous answers. This is actually an off-broadway hit theatrical. I'm trying out for the play at my school (a college version of it) and am very excited about it, I might have a monologue to myself! Anyway, this is play is bascially not about vaginas but the "vagina" is metaphorically used to describe the celebration of womanhood, embracing ourselves as unique individuals, and causing an awareness to stop violence against women.

I am a teenager and I am despertly looking to find an agent or an open casting call. Basicly I really want to get started in the business. I am from a samll town in CT and there is not a lot of movie or television stuff going on here. I have tried looking online for open auditions and agents but I get a lot of junk and stuff that looks not real. I want to find something professional that a real actor would be in, or even a commercial. So besides online, or if you know a really really good place online, is there any advise on how to get to a legidimate audition or find a good agency that would represent me. Thanks!

I have an audition tomorrow for this year's high school musical, The Pajama Game. I've learned my songs already, but i just can't seem to get from A to G natural without "swooping" or screatching. Anyone know how to stop the screatching?

What is the proper term for the way actors are placed on the stage, or told to stand in a specific spot (the director tells them this). Is it "placement"? I swear there's a real theater/technical term used to refer to this. Anyone know??

I know this question has been posed, but I would really like to know from the students themselves, why they continously post exam and essay questions on the site and expect us to answer it for them. There are also many requests for Shakespeare "translations." Are the teachers absent from your classroom? Warning too - many of the answers I have read to your homework questions are incorrect and misinformed. Please, are the students searching for other opinions or are they literally expecting us to complete their assignments quickly and never have to actually understand or read the scripts they are expected to?

Hey...does anyone know of a website where I can find a great collection of women's monologues..I've searched online for about an hour, and I must be missing something, because I can't find one, that will work.

I'm auditioning for the school play, "The Outsiders" as Marcia on monday, and I need the rest of this week and this weekend to practice it, and memorize it.

So...I definately am requesting a good monologue...

Please attempt to help...any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
