I am a teenager and I am despertly looking to find an agent or an open casting call. Basicly I really want to get started in the business. I am from a samll town in CT and there is not a lot of movie or television stuff going on here. I have tried looking online for open auditions and agents but I get a lot of junk and stuff that looks not real. I want to find something professional that a real actor would be in, or even a commercial. So besides online, or if you know a really really good place online, is there any advise on how to get to a legidimate audition or find a good agency that would represent me. Thanks!

You will first need the agent to do any acting professionally. Not the other way around. My daughter was 9 when she started out by just calling a talent agent out of the yellow pages in our city. The agent was pretty big in the field and she interviewed my daughter and before the week was up my daughter had calls to be an extra for movies. Some movies she would be on set for a couple of days. Because she was under 16 the ACTRA rules are that a parent has to be on set with her. Soon she was doing at least 1 sometimes 2 movies a week. She has been involved with many stars (she didn't have a clue who they were at her age it was funny!) She has worked with David Hasselhoff, Holly Hunter, Anthony Hopkins, Glenn Close and Denis Quaid. She is now a principle actress since the directors had taken a liking to her and has done a couple of TV series. Her last series that she was doing was Degrassi. She was making between $ 28-32 an hour. Saved it up for her college did a couple of commercials (which are the hardest to get in some cases).
Open calls are very hard to get accepted at.
Really look in your yellow pages for Talent agent. Also they only make a small percentage of your wage. And don't spend alot of money on photos for portfolio. Our daughter went to Sears photo and did head shots and her agent just copies it. So it only cost less than $30.00 for her photo.

Good Luck and try the yellow pages, it works.

The auditions that you are asking about are mostly available through agents. When you are 18 or 19 years old, you can search for "real" audtions. Until then, spend your time focusing on acting classes.

Instead of looking for auditions you should be in acting classes so you are "ready to auditon" when something comes along that is right for you. Don't be too quick to audition - you may end up hurting your chances rather than helping them.

You won't get an agent if you're just starting out. You've gotta get yourself some work first...actually, you need a lot of work first and you need to start getting to know people that will be able to reference you or network you to others. Here's a good website to start: http://www.newenglandfilm.com/jobs.htm. Basically, though, if you're serious about this, and it sounds like you are, you're not going to get a lot of good pro work out of CT. You either need to move to Boston or New York (the closest acting cities), if you're serious about it. I suggest going to Boston if you're just starting out. There are great resources there, and it's much less intimidating than NYC, where everyone and their boyfriend is an actor.

If you are interested in Boston, the two top casting places are www.cpcasting.com and www.bostoncasting.com. Good luck.

My advice to you is....get training. A lot of places/agents won't look at you if you don't have a legit insitution on your resume. There are very distinct ways to do resumes, take pictures, and execute auditions. There are amazing actors who are agentless...This profession isn't something you just jump into, unless it's an exceptional situation. Start out in community theatre....join any groups focused on communications....take psychology courses. Don't be afraid to fail. You need passion in this business to sustain. Best of luck.

Try PBS kids. They're always looking for kids to audtion. Plus, most of them are held in massachusets which isn't a long drive from conneticut.

You might want to take some acting classes or get into a local theatre production before you get too far ahead of yourself.
