I've seen the play three times - once in NY - once a college production - and once a production staged with transsexuals.
Each time it was a moving piece of theatre - challenging, sorrowful, joyful and engaging.
Good luck - if you get a role, you will find it rewarding, I'm sure!

It's performed at the college I go to every winter as part of the V-Day campaign. I've seen it 6 or 7 times since I've been here (they switch up which monologues are performed each night, so I usually try to go at least twice) and I'll be going again this February! It really is a fantastic show. I hope it goes well for you and all the amazing, beautiful, intelligent, strong women (and vaginas!) you'll be working with! ^_^

All hail the vagina!
This is an exceptionally empowering piece by, for and about women. It is also extremely funny, and there are some more touching moments as well.
All in all, I believe it is a piece that encourages women to take back the power of words, and use them to empower themselves to really be complete women.
Yes, some of the language may be considered vulgar, but no more vulgar than anything you might see on television or in the movies. Besides, that's the point.
Good luck with the audition, you've clearly done your homework on the show.
PS: Steven W - I also read "Women who run with Wolves" and would STRONGLY encourage ALL woman to read it. It is mind-blowing.

While I think it's inappropriate for a school to take on, it is a fantastic piece of work, not at all vulgar, and actually some segements of it are, or can be enlightening to the male gender.
Thankfully you GET IT with regard to the metaphor, smiles.
Ah Ok, I just read "College Version", so then I approve,,, :)
Steven Wolf
I have a suggestion for you and any who happen to wander in. A BOOK, suggested and sent by my Angel, "Women Who Run With Wolves" One of the most impactful reads I've ever experienced.

Well, I'm a guy so I really don't celebrate womanhood, but I'm not for violence against women. If you didn't laugh at the name and you really know what it means, I would try out for the play...u have good sense.

I like the fact it helps the victims of domestic violence but some of the "monologues" are kind of weird.
