I believe it will work. Look at the trailers. This is what I see. Number one, Rocky is back in the ring for this fight. Number two, Rocky's opponent looks legitimate...Mason "The Line" Dixon is played by Antonio Tarver who happens to be a real boxer, so he knows right away what he'll be doing. Number three, the storyline makes sense. It acknowledges Rocky's age. He's old, so he needs to find a way to get back into fighting shape. There you go, that's a challenge.

Overall, you have to give the movie at least ONE chance. See it before you judge it. If it's like Rocky V, then you don't have to see it again. If it's like the first four, then it's worth watching again.

Its going to be amazingly corny, like the rest of the Rocky movies, but I'll like it anyways.
