Although you are with someone else,
I want to have my say
Without invading your domain
Or scaring you away.
I respect the choice you made
And all that you decide,
But I would just like you to know
I want you by my side.

As a lake deep in a wood
Awaits a cool, fresh breeze,
I will wait, a patient eye,
While you do as you please.

I woke early one morning
the earth lay cool and still
when suddenly a tiny bird
perched on my window sill
he sang a song so lovely
so carefree and so gay
that slowly all my troubles
began to slip away
he sang of far off places
of laughter and of fun
it seemed his very trilling
brought out the morning sun
i stirred beneath the covers
crept slowly out of bed
then gently shut the window
and crushed his **c*ing head

I'm not a morning person

Fishtail

Dan McGuire’s on the bank
Set the hook with yank, crank the reel
To reveal a Rainbow Trout
There’s no doubt, he’s the greatest of them all

He calls out the Northern Pike
By the dyke, along the dam, night crawler can
Handsome Dan and the Rock Bass Band
With the pan-fried Walleye plan, he’s the man

Like a Surgeon he pulls Sturgeon from the lake
No mistake, he takes his time, and some line
So we can dine on Catfish, fine

I'm not just looking for compliments here, really, and please don't feel like you have to say something nice.

I'm wondering if I seem to be improving as a writer at all, or getting nowhere. I have strong ideals at to doing as well as I can, and have been told I'm a perfectionist, and therefore rarely feel truly satisfied with my work.

Anyway, please tell me what you think.

Thank you very much!!

I whisper your name
And I feel the shame
For all this time
We've been playing a game

I wish to see you,
So I gaze at the moon
It's the only light
And I hear the birds croon

I miss your words
Cuz you're not there;
Honey you're away,
And it's not fair

So here I stand,
Listening to a song
It reminds me of you
As I hum along

Now I realize
That your heart is near
I know it because . . .
Your voice is what I hear

So let's hold hands
And stand together
Let's tell the night sky,
We're one forever.

Hi, can somebody help me with the message conveyed by the poem and the critical analysis?
Especially the first stanza
"i wrestle with a rhinoceros,
but no words will come"
What does this mean?

Have you ever thought about memories and wanted to cry.

Because you realized that you allowed the love to die

Reminiscing on the times you stared into his eye

And said "baby I will never leave you" which is now considered a lie

You is wondering what it could of, would have been

Wishing you can go way back when

Yall ……..were ……………..inlove

Spending so much time together, feelings grew strong

Knowing that you would never spend another day alone

Your heart had a abominable melody while it was crying out painful moans

You staring out the window, trying to not pick up the phone

Truth is you want to call him and make everything good

Its getting harder every min so you was thinking that you should

Time seems to be running out, you have to make a decision

You having all different sorts, of all inner visions

From dinner in the kitchen, and in the bed kissing

So many memories comes to mind, but time is ticking

Time is ticking, time is ticking, this could be the end

Cause once that clock hit ten, he can only be your friend

Don't sometimes you wish u can go back in time

But life is not a movie so u cant press rewind

Its not that you made a mistake, but it hurts

To see the blooming flower fall down to the dirt

When you turn around you see his shadow right at you

You whisper "I love you" he says "back at you"

He turns around, you saying no baby no

Time is running, and u saying baby don't go

5 seconds left, time is ticking, time is ticking

you run and say baby don't go, don't go

But for a min u think its to late, just to find out the clock just broke

(time stops)

Those were the visions that led you to believe

That its never to late to get back what you need

If you confused, I just want you to relate

That when it comes to love, ITS NEVER TO LATE

its never to late, to get your love back. make it happen.

im tired of this life,
im tired of these lies,
I just want to run
I just want to hide
depression is everlasting
it leaves a brutal scar
even years after passing
I loved my life before
but I think I took it for granted
you know they always say
that you don’t know what you have
till you don’t have it anymore
I didn’t realize what I had
till I don’t have it anymore
now im stuck in hell
yet should hell be frozen over?
lies to make you happy
so that you wont blame yourself
you’re the reason why
I’m freezing here in hell
my siblings aren’t afraid
to tell you what they feel
no lies come from their mouths
at what they have to say
but im here to make you happy
not to put you down
so hush,
im here,
rest easy
knowing that your own daughter
is spending your time underground

I wrote this after a painful divorce years ago and the loss of my innocent upbringing. Just thought I'd share.

The flower sprouts, it seems so shy.
The leaves expand underneath the light.
A new life born for future despair,
But no one claimed that life was fair.
A flower of innocence knows no fear
But then, there is no innocence here.
The flower withers, it's substance dries,
It bows it's head and quietly dies.

I just call this one SISTER for now, I may never title it, and tomorrow I may burn it, but today I am depressed, for she is gone.

When I was just a little girl,
Somewhere about age five.
My sister told me such a tale,
She was then so alive.

She was a bit more old than I,
Almost four little years.
She told me tales of Daddy's deeds,
And cried a lot of tears.

She told how he came in at night,
Of what he had then done.
The things so bad, the way it hurt,
She wanted then to run.

A time or two he came to me,
And touched me way down low.
For what he did was very bad,
But I just did not know.

I didn't know for many years,
Just what my sister meant.
When I grew up and realized,
My young heart was then rent.

My Father is a memory,
His carcass in a box.
The casket went into the ground,
Sealed with two big padlocks.

He won't get out is what I vowed,
To sister's memory.
The shame and hurt she could not stand,
She set her spirit free.

The wishing well leads to hell;
Often it was where I fell.
Believing in a benign fate,
I detected the malignancy too late.

Love has succumbed to the growth
Of tumorous memories, mutated oaths;
The garden where we sowed the seeds
Is withered, rotting- choked by weeds.

A thorn is piercing through my skin:
I guess I've learned to feel again.
Pain and sorrow follow me,
I know them both intimately.

No one else can see my ghosts,
Wandering with me, pale and lost.
This is the specter still haunting me:
The spirit of the child that I never got to be.

Darth Cheney
Written by Semper Fi Reborn

Luke, I am your Vice President,
Is what Darth Cheney said.
Let me take you hunting,
And put birdshot in your head.

I'll loan you a Storm Trooper,
Or let you fly Deathstar.
But don't you try to lie to me,
For Jedis are real smart.

I punish you with a sabre,
And endless days of working.
I'll make you shout "DARTH CHENEY RULES!"
Or, "I LOVE HALIBURTON!"

But seriously folks I joust,
Yes I too can be zany.
No one has a better heart,
Than good old Darth Cheney!

A Bonsai Bobby
Written by Semper Fi Reborn

His name was Bonsai Bobby,
He was quite an awesome man.
He got this name because he was,
A British cop from Japan.

He usually guarded the Queen,
He traveled to and fro.
He was the only man in Scotland Yard,
That wore a black kimono.

This may sound very crazy,
But just 'tween you and I.
Each time he pulled me over,
He would always yell,
BONSAI!!!

In a British accent of course.
Anything less, would be uncivilized.

Hey, I've been given an assignment for school to research and write a sestina. While researching, it says that there are 6, six line stanzas that each end in a word that is mixed up in following stanza. I've seen that a lot of the examples viewed have a set pattern ...Is this a standard pattern or can the six words be in any random order when starting a new stanza?
The pattern I've seen is: first paragraph (1 2 3 4 5 6 ) second paragraph (6 1 5 2 4 3), third paragraph (3 6 4 1 2 5) , fourth paragraph (5 3 2 6 1 4 ), fifth paragraph (4 5 1 3 6 2) and the sixth (2 4 6 5 3 1 ) . Can someone please tell me if this is a standard pattern?

RAMJET
Written by Semper Fi Reborn

There I was a young Marine,
Behind the enemies lines.
Gunfire flying over my head,
While I'm laying with land mines.

The Sarge is barking, "TAKE THAT HILL",
Marines charge to comply.
Yet every man that charged the hill,
Was swatted like a fly.

This went on two bloody days,
And for three scream filled nights.
Until the Gunny took command,
To turn the tide of the fight.

He brought in a secret weapon,
The rumors said a sure bet.
We Marines did finally take that hill,
By using a RAMJET!

i got lost

Sometimes I fall down, without getting up,
Most of the time I don't care.
But now I am closer than ever before.
With no way to silence my pain.

Somehow, someway, it seems I got lost,
On that same dark road again.
I wish there was a way, that I could get back,
Turn back the hands of time again.

What do you see when your eyes are closed tight,
What do you feel deep, down and inside.
Why do I even try to comprehend pain,
Why don't I just give it up, walk away.

I've tread on this path so many times,
Tried to forget, but the hurt is still here.
Trying to learn the nature of soul,
Why doesn't everyone just stay away.

Eyes that may open, yet still fail to see,
The depths of a bleak reality
The silent waves of a pitch black sea,
Laying waste to the last bits left of me.

Life: From The Inside Out

There was a time when nothing worked for me;
every way I turned, no matter how hard I tried,
I’d always come up empty and on the losing side.

I’d ask myself was this the ‘real deal’
or some kharma from a life before
somehow inside I could feel a happier life;
a better place on some other peaceful shore.

“Can it be that the life I’m living
is within my own power to change?”
“Am I unknowingly arranging it,
can I also create a better way?”

“I can,” I said, “travel a better path
if only I choose to act and believe
in the power I have to re-create myself,
and all the good things I wish to achieve.”

Now, my dreams of another time and place
have become the reality
as I live a life of joy and grace
and make better choices along the way.

It’s easy to believe in a power that’s inside me
as it guides me through all of my days
because I’ve learned that life can only be “real”
when you find the right place to start …
and go with the flow of the River
that lies deep within your heart.

Semper Fi Reborn
Written by smiley george.

in brightest day,
or darkest night,
he is alway there,
in the fight for right.

with pen in hand,
and a cheerful thought,
his lines are glib,
and quite a sight,

when he come to town,
with a flourish and smile,
he leave a warm spot,
in everyones heart.

so cheer up my friends,
and don;t be forlorn,
for he will lift up a standard,
from which we can learn.

and bring cheer to all,
and brighten the day,
with a poem for his friends,
in his encouraging way.

He left for a while, not by his choice.
and had to return,
with a cheer from us all,
a great friend to all.
Semper Fi, Reborn.
