I'm a young adult and I'm still trying to grasp if life is really that difficult. As many young adults, I am ambitious and I want to be well off, like live in the upper middle class status in society or even be part of upper class. How hard does one have to work to achieve that status?

Please don't answer if you don't have experience...

The egoic mind is such a limitation, so bound.
What is it that keeps you bound, going round and round in the same circles?
What don't you get?

I answered a question earlier today that reminded me of a movie quote:

"...The 'who' and the 'how' are just window dressing. Keeps us from asking the important question, 'why'."
-- Mr. X from "JFK"

I started thinking, "Is this the reason so many people have the perceptions about life that they maintain"?
I am curious to see what you guys think.

Do you sometimes feel like you need a miracle? I know many people have tried this; Agustine, Aquinas, and also Hume and Locke, BUT what have YOU thought and/or experienced about miracles?

Thank you for your comments!

We don't like to know where that T-bone steak came from or the leg of lamb or the chicken nuggets or the grilled halibut. Maybe we'll find that even plants have thoughts and emotions. But n the real world, every creature is a predator of sorts, feeding on other living things. It's the way things are, the way we are.

And lately we've even carried our sensitivity to the level of political correctness.

Is the development of conscience a darwinian path to extinction?

There seems to be two lines of thinking about this. Some are vehement in their denial , some equally vehement in their assent. So, which is it? Yes, or no?

Normal is a relative concept what is normal in one culture is abnormal in another, this is one of the those subjective problems.
The question is what is, the objective normality, based on all present and past model of human behavior.
And does our idea of normal fit that?

A warning on a lighter warning you to "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN".

A door with a sign on it that says "NO ENTRY" but still has a knob.

One way streets that join other streets that rejoin the one you're on.

The sign says "STOP" but never disclaims that you are allowed to go again once you have stopped.

A sign that says form 1 lane but does not specify to form to lanes when it widens again.

Coffee shops that don't sell coffee flavoured coffee.

Muffin shops that sell coffee and coffee shops that sell muffins - what's the difference?

Ads that tell you to "Say no to drugs" but don't warn you to stay away from dealers.

People who tell Mormons to go away because they don't want to hear their religious opinion, but are happy to yell after them with theirs.

Sad Clowns - how is that funny.

Happy clowns - being a tautology, how does that make it funnier.

Clowns - not really funny, are they.

Clown cars - it'd be funnier to play on expectations and have NO CLOWNS

my teacher wanted us to answer the following questions after we watched this movie. The first question he asked was what philosophical lessons did you learn from viewing this. The second question is what place do philosophical values have in our lives.

If anyone has seen this movie and can give me any ideas on how to answer the following questions, I would greatly appreciate it!!

i know what would people say..
to worship god,and that's what's mentioned in the holly quraan,and i'm a muslim,and I HAVE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.
but also i have faith, which makes me sure that ALLAH doesn't need or want our worshipping for him.
if we worship him or not,it's up to us,and it will affect us pourselves in the end,not him SWT.
so why are we created in the first place.
TO WORSHIP GOD IS THE ANSWER,BUT I DON'T KNOW WHY IT'S THE ANSWER???????????

Suppose the government started a program whereby people could go to Mars as pioneers and live on settlements there, kind of like the old west. Once you go, you're pretty much stuck with it, but you get to build a whole new society. Would you go?

Is there a 'happiness' which leaves victims in its wake? The U.S. constitution supposedly gives citizens the right to pursue 'happiness'. But at what cost? This 'happiness' can be - and in practice most often is - a self-centred, self-indulgent thing, devoid of conscience and uncaring of the consequences for others.

But there is also a happiness that comes out of sharing with others, a happiness which does not leave victims in its train.

Would you agree?
