[To Socrates] - Apparently, you have forgotten that sometimes you ask a question to get opinions, so here is an example:

Great question.
Many people ask a question not to get perspective but to reaffirm what they are already thinking. Especially on this forum.
I personally haven't asked too many questions so I can not fairly answer this question. The few (only 12) I have asked I don't think I chose anyone's answer that I didn't agree with at least on some level. I would like to think that the Best Answers I choose are because the answerer presented a fair, honest, well researched opinion. Truth is, I'll usually pick the one that strokes my ego the most successfully and agrees with my position.
It's shallow and I wish I had a better answer, but I think if people are honest then they will admit that they also lean heavily towards those answers that agree with their point. I have chosen, at least once, an answer that conflicted with my beliefs because it was a respectful and honest one. Nothing turns me away from an answer more quickly than "You're stupid" or "This is a dumb question." I respect people who have a different opinion without throwing insults at me.
This question will really determine if people are honest with themselves and what criteria some choose to determine answers.

Yes! I Asked The Question, Who Will Win America's Next Top Model, I Voiced That I Believe Heather Will Win... Obviously, Most Questioners Would Pick A Person Who Held The Same Belief .. But There Was Something Special About This Answerer ... She Noted A Fact That Would Take Good Memory, And Would Influence The Judges, As Seen Here:

Note How "Kimberly" Emphasized The Fact That A Photographer Already Stated He Would Like To Work With Her In The Future? I Didn't Necassarily Agree With Her Opinion Of Choice, But She Layed The Realities Down For Me, Nice & Smooth And That Is What I Was Expecting. Thanks Kimberly! And Thanks Gee, For A Fantastic Question. Happy Holidays!

Yes. Absolutely. In fact, I did just yesterday, I think. (Maybe not yesterday.) Y!A is evil. All my days blend into one. :)
I felt the person really explored the question(s) that I asked. They supported their beliefs with reasoning. I ask questions to understand - not to get people to agree with me. That is why, most of the time, I try to phrase my question in a way that will not bias the answerer. :)
Star for you!
Edit:
Imagine, I do that, too. :) (The thumbs up thing.)

No, but I've given a thumbs up to an answer I didn't initially agree with, because it gave me something to ponder further. I've even changed my opinion a time or two after considering the other viewpoint.

Actually I have done that on a few occassions. While I'm not always immediately or even eventually convinced I do reward people who offer insight and pry open my locked mindset to allow in a different perspective.

Normally you ask a question because you would like to know something that you don't. So, when you do get to know it, you give the Best Answer to the one who helped you the most.
How can you disagree with a question? If you don't like any aspect of it like the words you have to choose or the amount of letters in it, don't ask it.

Sometimes people have good points and even if I don't agree but feel the point is valid I'll give a best answer. The best answer is supposed to be just that, not that you have to concur.

I haven't, but I have only picked one 'best answer.'
But if a person were to open my mind to something new, and make me consider, and learn, I would surely think that would be a better answer than someone just restating my opinion.
