I need to find a 5 to 10 minute clip online (preferably a documentary) about Thomas Hobbes for a project and how Hobbes has influenced today's world. If someone can tell me where I can find one (for viewing online or download), I will be grateful.

This last summer I had an experience of bereavement which triggered me to write this piece of short prose navigating love, death and friendship.

Click here and tell me what you think of the short piece:

Is it going against "God's Plan" to artificially assist life?

Or, did "God plan" for artificial assistance?

...Or, do you believe there is no plan?

I'd like to know why you believe what you believe, too.

One million people made a pact to give each other one-dollar each, so all of them would achieve the status of a becoming a millionaire. Like for example... every one give me a dollar first (hypothetically speaking), once I achieve the goal, then the second person, every one sends a dollar, then the third person, every one sends a dollar... etc, etc., a dollar isn't much for someone to donate at a time. What do you think? Answers is so popular, I literally get 20 responses in a second, could you imagine if this really worked? I’d like to hear peoples feedback, negative and positive.

If perfection is a state that does not exist, then what does that say about imperfection? Wouldn't imperfection then too be non-existent? But if neither perfection nor imperfection exists then what do we have? The things that we percieve as flaws are they really flaws? How does one discern that? If they are not flaws then what do we call them?

He just seems to use one finger to talk, without typing.

Also, what are his views on creation? I plan on reading "A brief history of time" but I won't have the book for a few days.

Thanks!

No cheating here, please. You have to at least TRY to make a reasonable, logical, sensible response. "My minister told me it's possible" is NOT a good argument. Feel free to use the bible, torah, or koran to back your argument up, since all are written about the exact same God.

If you're saying that God is perfect, then you can't say God has a plan, but man has free will to opt out. That would make God's plan imperfect, and thereby make God imperfect. If you'd like to suggest that God makes mistakes, that's fine. It'd clear the whole thing up nicely.

I'm actually curious to hear what is thought out there, so take a stab at answering.

An innocent woman jailed in Sudan for an absolutely insane reason, with maniacs calling for her blood... Another innocent victim of rape who was horribly beaten merely for being a victim in Saudi Arabia... I was going to post something that called for the execution of all woman-hating religious fanatics, but then realized that would make me NO BETTER THAN THEM.
How do I deal with my tremendous rage and hatred without becoming part of the problem?

How come every time someone argues against utilitarianism they appeal to emotion or start quoting some religious text, not reason? Is there really no good argument against the greatest good for the greatest number?

Why won't he just do it already? i told him he could just send me to hell cuz it can't be any worse than my life already is. So whats the deal? what is he keepin me around for? I have been told that God is "all loving." Yeah ill tell you what he loves, he just LOVES to hate me and to mess with me and to see people cry and be in pain. So i guess that answers my own question huh? I am just here for his entertainment rite?

At least the ghosts on Earth don't have to worry about doing every little single God says and don't have to worry about being punished and cast into Hell. If only this world weren't so difficult to obtain and do some things, then it almost sounds like it might be more fun here than there because at least here, you don't have to have him "breathing down your neck" every minute of the day and worry about him suddenly sending you to Hell at the blink of eye just because you wanted to go off and just your own thing.

Hello All,...I read a bit of philosophy years ago,And I often wondered did they get near the truth?,....Surely,We are a stage up from animals(Self-Evident!),And what developed our rational minds was language,Which got more complicated and our minds in parallel,....However we in parallel with many animals our interactions are built on climbing to the top of the pecking order(Alpha,Beta etc),...This is what Disco's and Public Houses(Bars)and Schools are about,....Some of us get out of this rat-race,refusing to exercise power over others, the only power to be exercised is positive(That is helping others),....Which gets to the definition of GOOD and BAD,Is "bad" committing unnecessary actions that are destructive to oneself or others or to this planet?,...I find alot of people have this inherent need to commit bad(Hurt others),However only if they can get away with it,And this is where climbing the Alpha/Beta pecking order comes in!!?,....So what do you think?,....Philosopher,Jemmy.
