If you lose everything, have no family, have no friends, no money, no income, and are about to be evicted. The only kind of job you could really qualify for is food service or harsh labor, and you are going on 40 years old. You have a strong academic and intellectual background, and are not really cut out for blue collar or restaurant jobs.

Don't give me advice about it. Rather, imagine this is you, and what do you think you would do?

You think maybe that the rapture will happen or do you still believe even after hearing all us Christians speaking that it is a theory or do you believe that the ocean taking over the earth will be the end of us? {what do you believe} Or elsewhere do you think we will live forever, what do you think! {how often does this thought hit you?} See, no matter what you think; you do not have to be afraid to answer, just answer with your heart not with your mind. Bye.

Someone has power over you, and you deceive them into believing that you respect them, and you believe everything they say is the truth?
Is this the smartest way to relate to authority, and if you don't do this are you doomed to failure in life?

We know the mess the republicans made. We will never crawl out of debt from it.
We see what the democrats are doing about it , not much at all.
Now lets see if we could get an Independant who would change things around and make it fair for the people in this country to live without this big burden being dumped on our children.
1st lets bring all our factories back to the USA where they belong. Make it illegal to manufacture out of this country and sell it back to us, and remain a citizen. If you want to run a company in China become a citzen of China and stay there.
Lets change the way we pay taxes for all this debt. FLAT TAX
No tax deductions other than dependant children. I think that one is a have to have for working single parents or married and still together, who struggle so hard all year they earn that right. Lets get tough on environment issues. And all other big issues. How would you vote?
a. republican
b. democrat
c. independant for making changes
d. no vote

I feel like I could write a book of questions. I was actually intending to write a lot in additional details, but I'm wondering if I found the answer as I was writing...

There is no "need" for anything to achieve enlightenment/realize itself or its lack of self. Oneness will continue with or without its "components" realizing it. Evolution and creation, whatever they may be, can fit into Buddhism perfectly because Buddhism does not make claims about what is true or isn't true, and its notion of oneness does not collapse when confronted with science. Am I correct in this thinking?

Please, no personal koans or anything of that sort. I don't pretend to be enlightened and I'm not even a Buddhist - yet. I'm trying to understand if Buddhism is as incredibly "open" as it seems to me to be.

Perhaps I'm thinking about this incorrectly. Is "love," or "compassion," the natural state of things, or is it just the most likely to lead others to enlightenment?

If it is actually a natural state of things, then it seems that I can only achieve this knowledge through experience. To experience this means I need to devote myself to it. If this is the case, how can I possibly choose among the various religions? Is Buddhism's only redeeming quality that it asks for the least amount of assumptions?

I was raised Christian and abandoned that mindset. I could live my life without believing anything, but I'm holding out at the moment for something more, and hoping that Buddhism won't ask me to necessarily believe anything without evidence.

It's not necessarily a romantic connection...

...despite distance or lack of contact, you know if the person is troubled... you know when she(or he) is gonna call....you can sense when the person is thinking of you...etc.

It feels as a bond or cord is attached to each other...one little tug and the other feels it, but it's not an invasion of privacy..it's more a beautiful connection.

so strange....

Some people say that love just happens to us and it's not something that we can control. Some say that we control who we fall in love with. What do you think?

What do you think is the most perfect way for humanity to be?

Should all of humanity be athiest and thus completely open us all up to more possibilities in philosophy?

Or should all of humanity unite under one religion and thus produce peace?
