i hope to accomplish self satisfaction. i complain to vent my frustrations on how things are not going my way, even though most of the time, it's my fault why things aren't going my way.

There is a difference to me between complaining and accomplishment. To complain can be an act of expression but accomplishment is when action gets done. Maybe someone whos had a long day or feels moody doesnt really intend on getting anything accomplished by complaining. I think its merely a way to espress their feelings of dislike. However if someone complains enough it can trigger something in your brain that later insist you to take action on what bothers you. Then something gets done.

Complaining accomplishes nothing. People need to be positive and the things they complain about can be changed with the right attitude. I see it as a cycle, the more you complain about in life, the more you will find to complain about. There is a difference between venting and giving a positive honest response to someones actions, or making a change in your own actions.

I think people try to accomplish two things: sympathy or change.
"Oh, my back hurts." Can evoke sympathy in a family member which can then be used to have them get something for you, like a sandwich or get them to give you a pain reliever. For that matter all of medicine works because people complain. If no one complained about their health, there would be no reason to find cures. Complaining can do great things!

Sometimes when I complain, I realize how petty and ridiculous my complaints seem compared to the suffering of others in the world. Sometimes I realize that I am guilty of the same offensive behavior of which I am complaining. Everything we do has the potential to be a mirror through which we can see ourselves more clearly.

Nothing. I hope to verbalize the problem or conflict and in doing so find a solution.
If I can't find a solution the first time, I can take a different approach by rewording the problem or conflict until it becomes acceptably resolved.

I think the purpose of complaining is to show to others an injustice that one sees and perhaps rile up support to right the wrongs.

There is an old English saying that a gentleman never complains about a situation that he is unable or unwilling to correct.

When I complain I hope to be allowed to do things my own way.
