i am not too happy with a previous chosen preferred answer;
we know that the universe is (virtually) Empty and extremely hostile-repeat-hostile to at least human life.I am not saying"go
there and see"! i am saying that better people have made these facts permanent.For all i know the knowledgable people out-there may be able to add-to the facts about this universe
(as i think the original question/er had in mind).

For once, I would love to hear an atheist defend his/her view. I am tired of only hearing atheists critic the views of others. WHY do you believe what you do?

Is there some grand scientific evidence that shows there is no God?

Is there some philosophical insight pointing to a "no God" universe?

What is the foundation of your view?

What do you have? If nothing, would you kindly admit to being an agnostic instead? Just say, "I don't know if there is a God."

(Let me guess... you are about to critic Christians again?)

I just returned from church, feeling wonderful. It has that effect on me more often than not. I know that religion is blamed for many of the wars and hatred currently in progress. However, I believe those who commit evil in the name of religion are frauds and are being used to keep good people away from good. The battle of good against evil continues to rage but its comforting to know that a belief in and worshipping of a Creator can lead to inner peace and happiness, while surrounded by evil and unhappiness. Learning about science, math, communication, health, etc, are all good worthy things to be doing with our time. In addition to those worthy pursuits, developing greater spirituality will magnify the beauty and goodness of everything else in life. Whether you feel your life is missing something or not, pursuit of an ever increasing level of spirituality will not only lead to your own good, but will be a blessing for the rest of the people who share this world with you.

A famous wag said: 'You have to know what is too much before you can know what is enough.'

My friend C.P. counters with: 'You have to know what is much too much before you can know what is too much."

Oscar Wilde says: 'Too much is never enough...'

What do you say?

I have a dilemma. I have a small sum of money. Enough to live out a short-term dream of living in Chile for a year. I just have always wanted to do that. Nothing is stopping me, except the thought that I could use that money and time to do something else (say get a Master's degree), and make much more money and time in the future. So the dilemma is this, do I use what I have to live out the only dream I have right now, or do I follow a path that I don't have my heart to have a more secure future?

Of course the decision is up to me, but I would like to hear your thoughts.
