A famous wag said: 'You have to know what is too much before you can know what is enough.'

My friend C.P. counters with: 'You have to know what is much too much before you can know what is too much."

Oscar Wilde says: 'Too much is never enough...'

What do you say?

I think you have to know what not enough is before you can experience too much or even enough.

Or, in other words, you can not find balance without knowing how much makes the scale tip.

In today's society, there is never enough. People are greedy, they long for more. The longing isn't usually because they haven't had enough, though. It is simply because what they are longing is somewhat rewarding, in any sense. For example...business men could think that they haven't made enough money that term. When in all reality, they made more than plenty to feed and clothe themselves. They want more for extra things. A house. Vehicles. Entertainment. People don't realize that those things aren't necessities. Enough is, in all reality, when you have had your share. Now, what your share is, is debatable. And that would be a different question.

i think enough has a different meaning in each situation .i mean sometimes sth too small or even just one thing could be enough to us.....and by that i mean sometimes we are satisfied with sth that matters to us and that is enough...is what each person needs the most..it isn't a mesure.....so too much is never enough cuzz the amount is not what satisfies the people .so it doesn't matter how much we have cuz that would be never enough but what we have could........

enough is enough......you know that its enough when you can't handle it anymore, you dont have the energy to carry on with the situation, your right at the last resort and then it fails, you try to work on fixing a problem that has already reached deadend....your emotionally, and physically drained........thats when your inner conscious makes a decision and says "thats enough"..........the path is so clear that even if you were blind you will be able to walk on it w/o falling

Enough is the feeling of being satisfied. This can also work in the other direction. Where too much is a state of being 'fed up'. I have had enough of X.

Maybe the question should be 'How Much Is Too Little?'. It would help rule out the temptations of gluttony, greed and all those other nasty little excesses we seem to fall so easily into.
