Yes, I would have to say intelligent people have a certain appeal about them. Ha.
zeebya, a few spaces below, has got it right.
If you are wise, then, the more you learn,
the more you realize you don't know.
I think therefore I am. .............................. I think? Damn!

132 IQ, I'm not dumb. Though I will freely admit I'm a large waste of my intelligence and it would probably be much better used on a harder working person.
I might have a high IQ, but I do not have a very complex library of knowledge.
As for independent thinking, I am not a religious man. I think that organized religion is one of the last breaths of modern mythology. The two main ways organized religion has always spread is through violence and the indoctrination of children. Most religions who have been violent in the past, (Christianity, Judaism), have evolved out of this trend, and rely solely on the later option.
I foresee science and academic study to continue to chip away at the religions we have today. Though as in the past, I certainly think more will evolve, but I think the end process of our evolutionary path will be a more unified society. Countries are already realizing that it is not good for anyone involved to enter a military conflict.

I don't think anyone is intelligent. Those who consider themselves as being intelligent can be quickly found to be less than intelligent.
Perceptions of intelligence. Perceptions lead to arrogance. Arrogance leads to isolation. After all, only someone of high intelligence will be good enough. Eventually, no one is good enough.
Independent thinking, despite the questions and answers here is usually frowned upon and shunned. It is when we encounter thinking that is truly innovative that people become skeptical.

I know alot of people who are extremely intelligent but have absolutely no common sense. There are quite a few mentally disturbed who also think deeply and everyone thinks independently of one another it all just falls on the choice they make to go with their own thinking or to follow others.... which in turn throws you back to common sense.

Over my 50 years of life, I have come to learn that I know very little. The only true wisdom is knowing that I know nothing.
Or something to that effect.
