Are we about to unlock the meaning of life or maybe destroy the meaning of life?

I am refering to the advances in human genetics. I mean human as in the body and brain functions not in what we might do to this planet. If we can evolve fast enough we will have no need for this planet.

The process of evolution for mankind has come to a halt, as the process of natural selection has been reduced in most of our lives. Natural selection is the means for adaptation according to Darwin. This means that life has increased exponentially. Unfortunately, the sources of our strife have been made extinct due to our incredible adaptiveness and intelligence. Since these things are gone, mankind surely is not evolving as it did in the wild; needing quick reflexes, sharp eyesight and keen wit. Though evolution never truly abandons us, humankind is still evolving but evolving to be most efficient in the environment that its in. The need for highly intelligent beings is not efficient in our state of civilization. Thus this and other "evolved" attributes will slowly decline. On the positive side, there are so many people now, that even if something catastrophic occurred to our race and Earth, then some descendants of human would most likely still be present and carry on our legacy.
As far as the technological advances that we have made, it is a race against time. Humans have evolved a parasitic tendancy towards scientists and great men in which we glean their discoveries and covet the benefits for ourselves. It will be a miracle to make it through this time in our history, with all of the war-types and deadly weapons. If we can make it through these birth pangs of society then there may be a golden age around the corner. I believe that if we can make it there then there is a chance for us in the universe after all.

When speak about "evolution", again there would be a misinterpretations between Humane Evolution & Human Revolution.

Human is descending in "Humane Evolution", where his "7 deadly sins" being intensified to end his own race. Therefore the real "evolution" is declining, thus the "real meaning of life" is forgotten.

Human claims literated and he has found all the excuses from the Legislation and religious Law to safeguard his wrongdoing, attain unlimited desire, so called forgive and forget but unwilling to "reform" the wrongdoers, without emphatising other victims and colateral damages thereafter, selfish to own human race alone, not the entire Beings and Nature.

Speaking of Human Revolution, there will be no end for science revealation, cause the Creator his sole-proprietor of all science, whereby human is exploring the science and inventing new technology.

I think human evolution is slowing down. You'll find half the crap we've invented has already been invented and we're only building on old ideas. I think our pique of evolution was the jump from quadraped to Roman culture, but we won't ever make a jump that drastic again.

If you're talking about the whole possibility of WWIII thing, though, I dont' think humans are any closer to finding the meaning of life. In fact, I believe we're moving further away from it as we delve into technology. Because of this, we're not destroying it either.

We're simply losing it.

I would say we are going through an accelerated "devolution". Science may be advancing, but the average intelligence and functional level of human beings is dropping drastically. In primitive times, those of us who could not provide for, or who were not genetically equipped for procreation did not procreate. Now the government (the citizens) provide for those who are physically, mentally or emotionally unable to care for themselves and give a bonus to them for procreation (welfare), thus creating a society of non-sustaining, non-contributing people. How long can we continue to advance with this current path?

As far as evolution, where have we evolved? Scientific discovery and research is not evolution. There have been no genetic changes to benefit man that I know of. If you know of some enlighten me, please. And inventions are not evolution.

We are a stupid species despite this emerging ability.

We will likely make catastrophic errors. Until we understand the interdependence of these systems, it will be a horrific future. Life is inexorably linked on this planet.

It won't be for generations that we understand how genetically modifying fruit and vegetable will impact on the insects and animals that feed on them. We won't know how other fruit and vegetable change and adapt to deal with the change.

I think we can do a lot worse than "nature" has done in terms of creating genetic change. Our greed will propel changes that will likely lead to our demise.

Depends. We could get creamed by an asteroid, blow ourselves up, get hit with a massive plague, or maybe angels on horseback will swoop from the skies and kill us all. We'll evolve like we always have, until something turns us back into flecks of carbon.

I already got the meaning of life, now all the human race has to do is evolve to my level. Mu-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!

I feel it is slowing down. Mankind changes his environment to suit mankind, in natural evolution an organism changes with it's environment.
