i am not too happy with a previous chosen preferred answer;
we know that the universe is (virtually) Empty and extremely hostile-repeat-hostile to at least human life.I am not saying"go
there and see"! i am saying that better people have made these facts permanent.For all i know the knowledgable people out-there may be able to add-to the facts about this universe
(as i think the original question/er had in mind).

Only the vacuum of space itself is truly permanent on a cosmic level. God only exists when people do, to believe in him/her/it.

The universe is empty? Damn, what am I doing here?

My answer is that Albert Einstein may have it with the theory of relativity thing, all things being equal, of course. There is no beginning or end that we as humans will ever hope to figure out (maybe). And no matter what, there is no more matter that has been created since the universe began. What matter is, is, according to Albert..
What probably is permanent in this universe is the lack of permanence. I've heard 'The world's changing' so many times that I took it to believe that just our world changes. Not anymore!
There is nothing permanent in our universe. Not now and not ever. Whew!!!!

For some religious believe persons there is a God and that's permanent. Not all religions believe in a god.

The ET like god existence are not accepted by everyone, though

Some facts are permanent. A person will always dies someday, even if the science get more and more advancement and the human life is made real long, people will stil die someday.

As long as the universe exists change, entropy, energy and order exists in order to support it.

There is absolutely nothing,in its present "physical" state, which is permanent in the universe except the Creative Force behind the universe itself. Everything else is destined for change on a regular basis. The Creative Force has created a universe which is designed to change constantly. Our Sun, for example, has a life span of 10 billion years. It is now middle aged at 5 billion years old. It will die in 5 billion years, taking our solar system with it. It will explode into supernova state. It will be gone, but it's energy, every bit of it, will continue on in different forms, becoming part of other star systems, which too, will die, and move on. This condition of change IS permanent. Ans so there IS something in the universe that is permanent--that being--the energy, atomic, cosmic, and otherwise will go on forever. This ongoing energy, is in fact, the Creative source itself, and is eternal, and permanent.

The universe is permanent and is what reality is. It is indifferent to what people think or wish. It is up to us to understand it and its laws. We know that on occasion, in the right place and right circumstances, it produces life. If life evolves to the level of human awareness it means that we can become, given enough time, the masters of the universe. This is not a guarantee. The universe does not guarantee anything, but its laws are consistent, knowable, and predictable. We just have to get smarter.

The only thing permanent is change but we can't even prove that because we are not permanent and if we are not permanent how do we know it has changed.

Example: people 3 years ago died believing Pluto was a permanent planet in our solar system

Energy and Change.

I learned recently that protons have a finite life span (35 billion years?). That kinda freaked me out. That means that all matter is finite and will decompose (into energy, I suppose).
