The question the philosphres do to things in general ("what and why and...?") I do for the things they do:

what is the end (in the teleological sense) of Philosophy (given that it does not have an end in itself)?

why does such human practice have such an end (in your point of view)?

Tnx in antecipation,

"ALL IS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR." "LIFE IS NOT FAIR." Which do you believe? I personally believe life is not fair and all things in love and war cannot be fair either. I mean someone came and cheated on you... you are supppose to say all is fair in love and war. No because if that happened to me I would say its unfair just like life. What do you guys think?

I believe godly virtues include things like charity, mercy, truth, self-control, austerity, penance, sacrifice and so on. All virtues like these require selflessness in some form or another. This does not include

Regarding our relationship with God we are all part and parcel of the Supreme Being though we may be infinitesimal. So we are all, in a sense, part of the body of God. Being part of God means our true self is all godly.

In this material existence our identification with the material existence is so complex we have trouble believing that our true self is eternal.

So why is this (and countless other) non-truth(s) being told and retold? What are other "harmless non-truths" that are commonly widespread? Are they truly harmless or just being passed off as such?

I've been reading about this and several of the thinkers who were determinists struggled with depression and existential crises because they thought determinism rendered their lives impotent and purposeless. In my experience as well, in college classrooms or conversations where this debate comes up, the people who lean more towards determinism don't seem as happy as those who lean towards free will. However, I often find that determinists are better at logically defending their position than the free will people. Do you think this is a common thing? Do you think determism is just too depressing for many people to believe in?

There was a person years ago that was very special to me but neither really knew how the other one felt. We got seperated due to work and college and we just were never able to reach each other again. Either the time was not right for either of us or we did not know where to find the other one. Then out of the blue we recently ran into each other and really felt the sorrow for the loss of time. I am not sure how to feel.

What I mean by this is in ethics the question is asked "What is human?"

Another question is if "this" is human and "that" is not human what rights does one have as opposed to the other.

Ethics asks us what a person is, and even though someone may be a human they may not be a person by an ethical standard because a person is quote, "One capable of rational thought" There are other definitions, but my question rests on the idea that since ethics and science give so many definitions, whenever someone picks one it alienates another group of people and turns them into something other than human.

The main point is in this example that a black man was not considered human by most white people when these folks were shipped here to begin with. If this craziness held true to today then none of the black people would be classified as humans because of a crazy point of view that would follow it.
