The question the philosphres do to things in general ("what and why and...?") I do for the things they do:

what is the end (in the teleological sense) of Philosophy (given that it does not have an end in itself)?

why does such human practice have such an end (in your point of view)?

Tnx in antecipation,

Philosophy understood as a second discipline serves the end of critcisizing other disciplines. Philosophy provides the most fundamental rules of logic and truth tests that are then used in other disciplines in their own right. For instance, one may apply rules of induction to biology, rules of deduction to psychology, ethics to business administration, etc... So in this sense it is to keep the other intellectual disciplines "in check." To the extent that it does a good job largely depends on the philosophers of the time.

Philosophy understood as a primary discipline is teleologically oriented towards leading the good life. As it was said by Socrates (or Plato depending on which approach you take), "To know the good is to do the good." Philosophy would then find its termination in understanding the good and thus leading a happy life. When one "does philosophy" one is seeking answers to question in order to better enable one to live better.

There is no end. Until everyone understands that they are stuck in the Matrix. Once they accept nihilism, they will understand that it is all silly. Humans are animals that no longer have to fight so hard to survive. Our brains have all this free time and we come up with all kinds of crazy crap.

To give life a balance, not science and cold facts, or religion with hopes and faith; rather reason and ideas that endure through time

Spiritually talking, i imagine we are all spiritually talking after we spiritually talk. until eventually obviously, we are spiritually spiritually questioning talking. Then they type of flow one yet another out. you eventually end up an section resembling Limbo. some call it The White Void. some call it Ponderosa. Spiritually talking, obviously.
